Passing through 9 countries, Robin (pictured) and Cam aka @fourwheelssouth will be pedaling over 10,000 kms and climbing over 70000 meters from Addis Ethiopia through Nairobi Kenya•Kampala Uganda•Kigali Rwanda•Gitega Burundi•Maun Botswana•Gobabis Namibia•Kenhardt South Africa to Capetown in South Africa

They will be riding in support of two charities:
A Kenyan bicycle charity and St Elizabeth hospice who looked after Cams brother towards the end of his life (something that’s quite close to my heart aswell).

They are currently hoping to get further support for the trip and I’m trying to help and any way I can.
@apidura is kindly sponsoring bike bags 👏🏽 and we’ve chipped in with a Hoodie to keep him warm when it’s chilly.
Robin’s currently equipped with an alu Canyon gravel bike but would ideally like a journey proof steel frame to transfer all his current bits onto and I’m calling out to you 🫵🏽 (you know who are) to get in touch with him if you’ve got a worthy frame.

In addition to being a rad ride out, Robin will be filming along the way recreating his grandfathers films from 1963..saw some of the OG footage and I can already tell it’ll be a very wholesome affair!

The bike build is officially finished 👌🏻

Trying to turn my little MTB into a bikepacking setup capable of carrying pretty much everything I’ll need for the next few months.

A few upgrades, a LOT of tinkering, and a DIY masterclass thrown in for good measure.

I am so grateful to everyone who has supported me and my crazy adventure up to this point of finally being ready to go, as the dream machine has been created by the one and only mechanic Robin.

Tongwe East Forest, Tanzania. 🌳

Highlight: camping beside Nkondwe Waterfall. We arrived in the dark and fell asleep to the continuous roar of this giant force of nature. Waking with the sunrise to see it in all its glory and power was pretty unforgettable.

Lowlight: heading into the forest without realising we were about to face 150 miles with no resupply apart from a few huts at the top of a climb, with very limited options.

@robinonabike and I will be sharing more stories from the journey at Five Rod Fest, Saturday 19th September at @fiverodfarm. We’ll have more photos, our bicycles locked and loaded, and it’ll be our final fundraising push to get us over £10,000 for @stelizabethhospice.

374 km around Norfolk in one day🚲

The Rebellion Way takes you through a bit of everything — quiet country roads, gravel tracks, forests, market towns, Roman ruins and some seriously beautiful countryside.

We decided to see how much of it we could squeeze into one day…

17 hours later, we’d ridden the whole thing.

Would I recommend doing it in one go? Depends how much of a challenge you’re feeling up for.

Whether you do this in one day, or over several, it is adventure for any level of cyclist.

POV: you decide to bike pack across South Africa.

870km Upington ➡️ Cape Town
9 days
6750 meters climbing
1 mountain range conquered ⛰️ the Cederberg ✨

No idea what I was getting my self into in all honesty
Mostly cycling off road
Many many kilometres travelled and meters climbed
An unreasonable amount of beautiful scenery
And somewhere along the way, a few strangers became very good friends 🫶

What I’ve learnt from bikepacking trips:

1. Eating and drinking enough are a big challenge but essential for the amount of energy needed each day

2. Not all camp spots are glamorous but other times they make up for it and can be truly beautiful

3. Daily showers aren’t always an option, sometimes a wash in a lake or public sink can do the trick

4. Multi-day trips can be exhausting, with lack of good quality sleep and big cycling days, cat naps are useful!

5. Bikepacking sometimes involves pushing the bike, other times it is easy and scenic miles

Camino del Norte in reverse 🔄
Final days - 8 to 11!

We headed east along the Camino del Norte in reverse, from Santiago to Santander 🇪🇸

Northern Spain was very hilly, with less predictable weather patterns albeit incredibly beautiful 🏔️

1,800 km cycled
18,405 m climbed
82.5 hours in the saddle (10.5 days)

Day 7 - our final day on Via de la plata Camino!

We rolled into Santiago - a huge day on the bike, climbing nearly 3200 metres!

We spent around 8 hours a day completing this pilgrimage, which gave us lots of time to reflect 💫✨
