The last bit of tweaking to make this collet closer super useful. Minimizing collet rotational slop so phasing details can be added that will repeat. #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
Filling the expansion slots with oil resistant neoprene. Glued in with Loctite black max and using stretch to get the 1.5mm thick matl. to shink to 0.75mm to slip into the 1mm slot. As molded skin on the neoprene was sanded off to get better adhesion. #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
Some improvements on a cheap collet closer to eliminate play in the closer ring by slitting it, so it can expand into the housing when closing the collet. #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
No rocket surgery, just the rest of the story. #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
The sound of a Hardinge purring. I part far enough for a triangle file to seat in the groove to break the edge on both sides. 15 more parts to go. #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
Quick and dirty fixed coolant nozzles on the dovetail toolholders. Urethane tubing with push to connect fittings for rapid connection to each toolholder. Great for short run work with no tool setup time (if you have enough dovetail toolholders 😎😂🤣) #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
A low dollar, high density, minimum footprint part storage system. A few tweaks to a standard bun rack to strengthen the shelf rails. 4 pieces of aluminum channel and a box of steel shank aluminum pop rivets and you're good to go. #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
Bernard finally on the Tormach! #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
Some more details of the Burnerd collet backing plates. #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
This is going to be a very useful addition. Finally finished the 4 degree mount for the 4" 6 Buck Chuck #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
Quick and dirty gage feet for the shallow bore gage to measure tapered bores of Hardinge 4° nose and D1-4 backing plates. Ceramic insert at 750 sfm on ductile iron. Two are for the Burnerd collet chuck and one is for 4" 6 jaw Buck chuck. #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
Hard turning hardened jaws while in proper loaded condition with CBN tool. 250 sfm @ .002"/rev 76M @ 0.05mm/rev #togodbetheglory #practitioner_of_the_mechanical_arts #thinkoutsidethebox #instatoolmaker #dontleavewellenoughalone by @robinrenzetti
