Since the watercolor workshop in Croatia in May…this has been a summer of plein air watercolors. I generally have a pretty diverse portfolio, from ceramics, collage, mono prints, and mixed media painting but Painting from life is a new adventure for me and I’m not sure how it converses with the body of work from my 60 year career. However I’m absolutely loving my daily excursions …mostly into Greenwood Cemetery. Our shows are closing today, come by for a last chance to see them and hang out with our artists and the local art community at the closing party, 5-7pm

That’s not wallpaper, those are not feathers: there are six presidential portraits within “Founding Feathers.” Robin Roi’s handpainted work is a nod to the early days of our democracy. Come meet Robin today and learn more about her show “Unpresidented.”

Artists from our project space show will also be at the gallery this afternoon. “Where I Have Been” features work by Susan Greenstein, Juliet Martin and Sohn Plenefisch.

Final Week!
There are a few more days to visit the gallery and see Robin Roi’s marvelous show of presidential struggles, as shown through abstract portraits she created representing the first 16 commanders-in-chief. “Unpresidented” emphasizes the trials and tribulations these men dealt with in an attempt to create a new country dedicated to a concept called democracy. As Robin says, “They were far from perfect, yet they are worth remembering as the good, the bad and the ugly.” Sound familiar?

Closing Party on Sunday, April 19, 5-7pm. Lets encourage Robin to get the last word in on this subject, and also come mingle with the artists from the Project Space show “Where I Have Been.”
