Grateful to have the opportunity to work with this Buchla 400 as one of four composers responding to the work of Martin Bartlett for the @gibson_sfu exhibit dedicated to his work. Thanks to @jrdev_ for inviting me to participate, I'm so excited to start exploring this instrument and developing a process for the piece! Looking forward to learning alongside some other lovely folks: @andromedatheperson @kiranbhumber
.
Go check out this exhibit and also other exhibit in the gallery 'Here to Play; Variation for Sixteen Hands' which has some incredible work

One of my favourite effects is placing a coin on a vibraphone, creating a shimmering quality when it is bowed. This effect is featured heavily on one of my pieces Portals II, as demonstrated here by @architekperc 's @noambierstone

Have you checked out New Forevers yet?

Extreme gratitude goes out to everyone who has helped me along the way to creating this record New Forevers: definitely not all pictured here, but includes folks who let me read their grants, gave me advice, helped me with childcare, fed me, housed me, listened to mixes, and just generally believed in the project. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
.
Thanks to generous support from the @canada.council I was able to pay artists and other collaborators over $20 000 in artist fees to create this record!!! It was strange to be in the "producer" role and to be in control of this big project, running not only the production but the VIBES but I learned a lot and it was so fun
.
Also just wanted to say this project was not funded the first time I applied! For all of you who write grants to make a lot of your work, don't give up when you don't get a yes! Try again!!
.
This album is out on Friday and streams everywhere, hmu to snatch a limited vinyl edition ❤️

Hiiiiii ok I have a small run of vinyl for this record and I'm so excited to have them in my hands and ready to go!!!
.
New Forevers is a collection of percussion works that I've written for various ensembles over the past seven or so years: from percussion quartets, to an ensemble for 9 hi-hats, 9 snares and 3 marimbas, to piano and percussion, viola and two percussionists, and a piece for solo vibraphone. I'm so grateful to have them all encapsulated in this record. The vinyl features most of the record ☺️ (couldn't afford the double vinyl that would be required to fit all the pieces...)
.
These will be available through Redshift Music via their website but also through me - just get in touch!! I was also able to get a short tour of the manufacturing plant today 📀📀🥁🥁
.
One week until release!

Just over one week until the release of New Forevers!
.
I'm grateful to have Megan Hepburn's painting Lake Fire blanketing this collection of music. I find that I can always find a new way to look at this work, and to have it in my living room and see how the changing light of day pulls out different characters and conversations within it is deeply satisfying. Sometimes soft sometimes jagged, this static dance, full of nuance, is the perfect pairing to the sound world of this record. Can't wait to share it with you all!
