Refractions, a site-responsive dance work with @lucy.fandel is happening this weekend! Friday June 20th and Saturday June 21st, as part of the @angles.of.consequence performance series.

This has become a very special work for me, and I am very excited to share it and curious to how it is received.

Refractions takes place on a street between the suncor oil refinery and an urban phytoremediation site. It is the fruit of many months of spending time with this specific place, dancing with mirrors and willows, and tracking the movements of the sun. We are exploring hidden labour, orientation and acts of close attention.

I have lots of thoughts and feelings to share about this work and process, but to be honest my brain is currently a bit fried by making it. So for now, I will just say: come! Bring your pal who studies urban planning or has never been to a dance piece before or who loves industrial sounds or butterflies. Or bring your pal who loves cycling and join the bike train! For real there will be a group cycling out there together.

All of the info is on the eventbrite link on my profile — it’s a free event! Register for the exact location and all the details.

𝓢𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓜𝓸𝓾𝓷𝓽𝓪𝓲𝓷𝓼 music video is out now! I had the sweet pleasure of directing + editing this bb for the ever magic and very talented @sofia_mllr and now I am thrilled to share it with the whole wide internet! Link in bio.

I was just minding my own business, papier maché-ing with all my friends, when Sofia said, what you gonna do with that mountain? and I said, I don’t know, and she said, wanna make me a music video, and I said hell yes because I freakin love music videos and I freakin love Sofia Miller’s music. I listened to this song so many times (as one can imagine) and it’s still so good! That’s wild! If you don’t yet know the absolute delight that is @sofia_mllr, do yourself a favour and go listen to all her tunes on all streaming platforms on repeat. I am in continuous awe of rich and intricate worlds she builds through her music, and how incredibly hard she works to make it all happen.

Director/editor: @rockharlequin (me lol)
Cinematographers: @frankest_frotos and NIV
Additional mountain footage:

𝙎𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙩 𝘽𝙤𝙭𝙞𝙣𝙜! (2025) a short 5 minute stilt act for Café Concret #51, performed last summer in Wario Park.

So stoked that Caitlin Ross (one half of @corrugatedspectacles ) and Guillaume Loslier-Pinard @guillaume_bouge were down to bring my MMA dreams to life. And thank you to all the audience members that sent me their iPhone footage!

White Ash Writing Desk

Last summer I dropped out of fine carpentry school! This was a big deal because I never really dropped out of anything before and I always thought being an art school drop out was so cool but I loved art school and I didn’t want to drop out. But furniture building school… let’s just say after 10 months my durational performance cosplay act was up and I was ready to forget everything I learned and go back to quick n dirty diy, never to stress over a 1/32 again. But fine I did learn many a useful skill (mostly some patience) and I did make this writing desk and a few other pieces I will eventually photograph. by @rockharlequin

To borrow one of Cy’s block poems: “a roving my collect”

More moments from the Art Farm Residency in no particular order: the poets make stain glass and the filmmakers take a dip. Laura harvests wild plants for us to eat and Anik and Alex the undercover landscape architects help me gently flatten the grass into a windy labyrinth. I help a different Alex haul a large branch. The kids help me carry the tower. Jayeon is up the tree, Cy sits on the steps. The transmission tower moves about. Divinatory poems, butterflies, bio plastics and tork headed deck screws abound. And corn.

Big full heart for a real nice timje (( and more performance documentation coming soon )) taken in Nebraska by @rockharlequin

I absentmindedly placed this mushroom hat I made atop this cone because I needed somewhere to put it while my hands were doing other things, and now I cannot unsee the maze of Montréal’s construction cones as the fruiting bodies of a rich mycorrhizal network. by @rockharlequin

We are thrilled to share that we will be presenting 𝙍𝙚𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 again on June 28th, as part of « Triptyque Vivant » an afternoon of performance works presented by the Maison de la culture de Pointe-aux-Trembles.

This site-dance work takes place along the street between a Suncor oil refinery and a lush phytoremediation lot, appropriating the dissonant aesthetics of industry and vegetation. With mirrors, magnifying glasses, and playful acts of orientation, the roving dance explores notions of hidden labour, extraction and attention.

For more information and to reserve a free ticket, follow the link in my bio.

Co-choreographed and performed by @lucy.fandel and Isabella Leone. Costume and prop design by Isabella Leone.

𝙍𝙚𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 was originally produced in 2025 by @angles.of.consequence
