Most of us learned RPIE at some point. But most of us also juggle rapid-fire requests, tight deadlines, leadership pivots, and “quick favor” or “small tweak” emails.

When that happens, planning gets compressed, research gets skipped, and evaluation becomes an afterthought. Suddenly, it’s harder to explain why we chose a tactic, defend a budget, or prove what worked.

CAPIO is bringing RPIE back into the room! ⚡ Our new in-person RPIE Strategic Planning Training Series are not academic exercises, but practical decision-making tools for real-world public-sector communications. Participants will work through realistic public-sector scenarios and practice building clear, defensible communication plans that can be confidently explained to leadership, colleagues, and the communities they serve.

On March 5 in Escondido, experienced practitioners will walk through how to:
✳️ Use research intentionally to inform decisions, not justify them after the fact
✳️ Distinguish clearly between objectives, strategy, and tactics
✳️ Write SMART objectives that define what success looks like
✳️ Develop strategy as an approach, not a list of activities
✳️ Select tactics that align with strategy and available resources
✳️ Evaluate effectiveness in realistic, defensible ways
✳️ Apply RPIE thinking to everyday requests, prioritization, and leadership conversations

It ain't no lie! 🎵 We enjoyed a fantastic evening at the Palm Springs home of 🌴 Lance Bass and Michael Turchin 🌴 for the Greater Palm Springs Animal Allies' major donor appreciation event.
