The Puerto Rican Parade in Bushwick was beautiful. The NY Knicks won the NBA championship the night before, and the vibes and energy in the city were amazing. Love to see the community outside representin! Love that the black and white Boricua resistance flag became the norm- plus all the community orgs out there standing up against ICE. And of course the new NY Mayor is all up in thr mix. Yo Soy Boricua Pa Que Tu Lo Sepa! Lol. Since PRSA in high school. Its gonna be a dope summer! #PuertoRico #NYKnicks #NBAchampions #Knickstape #PuertoRico #PuertoRicoLibre #CUFFH #AntonioReynoso #GrandTheftAlvarado #Bushwick #PuertoRicanParade #MayorMamdani taken in Bushwick, Brooklyn by @rodrigostarz

Hip Hop Will Make You Dump Trump! Roque Starz rocked The Peoples Agenda- big ups to @ifco_pastors4peace for the invite. So proud to see him rockin with an org like Pastors for Peace that does such amazing solidarity work with Cuba 🇨🇺 and always been a friend to @rebeldiaz - So proud to see Roque hit all the stages I got a chance to rock for the movement in NYC. Riverside Church is historic. This was also his first Call and Response at a show and it happened naturally. OCTUBRE REBELDE:
Memoria, Resistencia & Community Power presented by @actionlabny @bxmusic and La Peña del Bronx-

From the streets of Chile to The South Bronx, Octubre Rebelde honored generations of resistance against fascism, dictatorship, and political repression through the power of culture. We also answered the @falloffreedom of artists standing up against fascism. We wanted it to be multigenerational.

Hosted by @rodrigostarz of @rebeldiaz, featuring Mapuche MC @waikil_rapmapuche and rising voices @roquestarz, @ill_kofran , and @lamusicology, the night brought Hip Hop, reggaeton, and merengue rap together in a celebration of Chilean resistance and diaspora.

A powerful photography exhibit curated by Chilean photographer @folilpueller featuring @rickyflores @gabriel.himself @colon.maximorafael and @fotopepe_73 connected past struggles to the fight for liberation today, and also included a short panel afterwards.

Dedicated to the revolutionary legacies of Víctor Jara and Miguel Enríquez, we remember, resist, and keep building community power. ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿💯💯💯❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️

¡La memoria vive! ¡La resistencia sigue!

At the last Boogie Mics- the homie from Chile @amilcar_films popped up on us to catch the show and to chill. He sent me these pics after. I had never seen how proud and joyful I look watching my superstar son @roquestarz perform. I realize that its one of the things that makes me happiest- watching him shine- and especially at Boogie Mics where so many of my younger homies like @kembaland @supremespeaking @thisizahzi @deebodioso @hypekingmezzltheunogoat @flowsoriver came up in. Back then yall used to make me smile like this also- and yall still do. Appreciate yall. Yall done brought the old man back out on stage lol. Gracias compa Amilcar por capturar mi rebelde alegria. Se agradece pana. Thanks to @bxmusic @actionlabny for making it possible again. #BoogieMics #TheSouthBronx #HipHop #OpenMic #BXMusic taken in Bronx Music Hall by @rodrigostarz

Wow! What a journey. In 2015 after coming back from Ferguson Missouri- I got invited to a meeting by @msladyjustice1 and @peacegina about organizing NY solidarity to the folks on the ground on W Florrisant - at that meeting my crew @rebeldiaz were the only ones who had actually been on the ground - so we had important info to share - it was there that I got to meet the legendary Mr. Harry Belafonte. There that we got connected with our brother @tef_poe - What followed was various meetings at Mr. B’s office and many powerful conversations. Many of those meets were documented by film maker @susannerostock and would then become the amazing documentary @followingharryfilm - FOLLOWING HARRY offers an intimate look at the last twelve years of Mr. Belafonte’s life: his work for justice, his mentorship of a new generation, and his enduring belief in our collective power to create change.
Featuring: @aloeblacc @common rosariodawson @ijessewilliams @iamjaimefoxx @ajamonet @msladyjustice1 @philsomething and little ole ME ! - @rodrigostarz -
Another surreal life experience among the many incredible ones on the journey!! Now this is the move- its out now and we want the whole world to watch it!!

Mr. Belafonte moved all these people to act. Today, we invite you to carry that spirit forward.
Watch @followingharryfilm today!!

Happy Heavenly Birthday @johapuigd ! El Hip Hop NewYorkino esta de luto. Se nos fue el Perro Goldo al plano ancestral. Those that were lucky to call him a friend- know that Joha was a force- aveces jodia jajaj pero era tremendo amigo - the type to pick you up at the airport when you would go to Miami- to make an effort to connect you to all his rap friends de España- aunque era Dominicano amaba el rap de España y gracias a el conocimos @elputocoke @teambackpackesp y muchos mas - he was a people connector taking us to meet @misioflow1 - or making sure his homies got to join him on stage- in the 2010s his crew Los Leones con @ambusheljovenlavoe and @kingcapo718 took the scene in NY by storm- I recall Kool Herc being at our show and loving them - and of course Joha became Hercs friend too and took him to meet his peoples- one time Joha got taken by La Migra and we did a benefit show to support him and he found a way to call from jail and insisted on spittin bars over the phone- he did epic shit like that all the time. Ese era Joha - full of life and energy. You will be missed Bambino. I still dont recall why we would call each other that 🤣🤣 - QEPD RIP MC Joha - Presente!! Aca some short videos we were able to take from his last show in NY this past summer for #BrooklynMundial we did w / @cruz_khaoz @actionlabny @evergreen.initiative - honored we were able to have him rock- he always looked his happiest on stage. #MCJoha #hiphop #RapNewYorkino #LatinoHipHop taken in Bronx, NY by @rodrigostarz

Music, art, and resistance in the Bronx. A few moments from Sunday’s Octubre Rebelde, presented by @actionlabny, @bxmusic, and La Peña del Bronx as part of @falloffreedom.

From @waikil_rapmapuche’s headline performance to the photo exhibit “Ayer y Hoy, Chile contra El Fascismo,” we came together to celebrate culture and collective resistance.

Thank you to every artist, photographer, and neighbor who joined us. Courage is contagious. Art matters. taken in Bronx Music Hall by @rodrigostarz
