Rohani Le Rossignol's work is a celebration of the natural world up close. Often working with flowers from her own garden and handmade fabric designs of her own making, her paintings carry a personal touch that's easy to feel.

Snippets of the painting process for my current WIP - Golden Wattle - a small, wonderfully fragrant sprig of from the paddocks in Wallington. 🌼

I used to paint my backgrounds last, but recently I’ve been blocking them in first - I think this makes it easier when there’s lots of detail in the image.

There’s definitely more of an “ugly stage” though 😅 - but filling in the foreground and seeing the painting come alive over the messy underwork is satisfying ✨

I love wattle season - seeing all the different kinds have their moment to shine 🌼Wishing you a lovely week! 💛

Coastal Banksia 30.5 x 40.5 cm oil on canvas 🎨

Adore the dramatic stage lighting from the afternoon winter sun falling on the banksias leaves, creating some striking shadow play. The vibrant golden green contrasting wonderfully against the cosmic purple bubble vase - a magical colour believed by some to be a bridge between the physical world and higher energies. 💜

Available on BT or DM me for direct purchase 😊

Wishing you a wonderful Father’s Day weekend 🥰

Painting a Coast Banksia from Ocean Grove this week. As the name suggests, this hardy variety not only flourishes by the ocean, but also the mountains too.

I love banksias for their sculptural beauty. I was particularly drawn to the radiating leaves on this one - kind of reminds of a frill neck lizard. 😁🦎

Wishing you a lovely weekend! 💚💜

Black wattle in green pickle jar 23.5 cm x 30.5 cm oil on canvas.

Glowing puffs of golden goodness.💛 Soft and delicate with lacy, fern like leaves, this dainty wattle is just one of the varieties I hope to capture on canvas this spring. 🌼

Available on BT or DM me for direct purchase 🥰💛

The slow process of painting wattle, one yellow dot at a time. I’ve never attempted a bunch this size before - so many fluffy balls - lucky it’s only a small canvas 😅

It’s turning out to have a bit more of an impressionist vibe than my other paintings - I think because of the tiny flowers and needle thin leaves - but that’s ok - every painting is different 🌼

I found this specimen of lace-like #blackwattle in beautiful Wallington near Ocean Grove - my go to for collecting native samples. The streets have been lined with clouds of gorgeous golden yellow this last few weeks - a joy to see during late winter. 💛

Wishing you all a lovely weekend 💛

My finished Hakea cutting looking quite magical in the sparkling, magenta dotted tumbler I found in a local Vinnies. Such a fascinating, other worldly, specimen of Australiana. The unique pompom-like balls are filled with nectar, providing a vital winter food source for honey eaters, insects and tiny marsupials like pygmy possums in the colder months 🍯💛

30.5 x 40.5cm oil on canvas. Currently available on BT or DM to purchase directly from me ❤️

Edit - sold 🔴

Painting leaves onto my Hakea. This beautiful cutting is from Tallulah’s school (which is full of natives luckily for me ✂️😁) Adore the gently swaying willowy leaves, and the wonderfully bizarre pin cushiony flower balls📍🌿

🔴 Study of a pink gumnut blossom I found on a beautiful flowering eucalyptus in Ocean Grove.

The gorgeous fluffy magenta flowers and equally as striking blossom buds reminded me yet again of the incredible palette found in nature. A lovely match for my purple bubble vase and a fascinating book I found at the library - “The Artists Palette” - which examines the paint palettes used by 50 of the world’s greatest artists from the sixteenth century to today. 🎨🌸💗

This piece now resides in QLD, thanks so much to my beautiful collector for giving this painting its forever home 🙏💖

Chipping away at this WIP inspired by the fruits from my garden. While spring is my favourite season, winter is not without its share of beauty - our mandarin and golden tamarillo trees are laden with fruit, our pomegranates over ripe and falling from the trees ready for juicing.🍊

Arranged in a crystal bowl gifted by my sister and surrounded by handmade dresses sewn by my mother, (pieces worn by my sister and I when we were children), I’m working on a new mini series bringing together objects that are richly personal, exploring themes of abundance, gratitude and connection.🧡

If you would like to have first previews of these newest paintings as they are completed, I’d love for you to join my mailing list. 💛 Also hopefully this month I’ll be able to FINALLY get my e-shop up and running so you can purchase directly from my website 😀🤞

Wishing you an amazing weekend! 🧡
