POSTS STORIES REELS
This is my first ever EP, First One To Fail With. LINK IN BIO! First One To Fail With. ! It took me a good while to be able to let this go and I’m really proud to show it to the world. This is an eclectic pile of songs which I’ve performed with since my very first time on stage. Every track was made with beautiful friends and genuine partners. On every song you’ll find amazing artists and performers who transformed my little guitar songs into thought-out stories that describe who and what I was in my 20’s (I’m 30 now, so..). First and foremost are the mighty producers - @atronchos Ron Gavriely (Tracks 1,3,5) who also mastered the entire thing and helped me every inch of the way. @guetta.47 Uri Guetta (track 2) the great who taught me so much in such a short span of time. Lastly @landauyoav (track 4) my dear old friend, the first true musical partner I’ve ever had. @advallevy made this beautiful cover with a shitty phone picture I provided. Friends, family, artists and contributors (in no particular order) - @yehuditsarig, @ayaburstein, @dalulshablul, @stavlip , @yoav.dolevhash , @matan_assayag_drums , @galoved , @hadas.caspi , @nativ_tal , @edjamesjordandrums , @gon.zone , @yuvalsteinbock , @gili_rs , @noamlevinberg , @_jakehbrown_ , @jigi_music <3<3<3 I hope anyone who listens to this enjoys whatever they may find here.
Great Big Love is the first song I’ve ever written which was worthy to be heard In my eyes. I wrote this song on the kitchen floor at my mother’s house, in the dark, like a real drama queen, after a breakup. Classic. It has a duality to it when speaking about love. The fact that it’s hanging from the ceiling can incur a particular feeling. And yet, I find that it can also mean that this certain type of love has real power, which makes it float through the room and rise to the very top of it, as if to fill it up. This tune has really taken hold with many of my friends. Perhaps for that reason it was the one that was most difficult to produce. Taking me 3 times to go through the whole process. At first, Jigi produced it with Yuval, Halel & YDH playing. Then going into mix with Ron, we decided to re-record some stuff with Halel and Matan. Until ultimately I realized I had to start over completely. And I decided to go through it all again with Yoav. This was during spring of last year, Aya and I were less than 3 months into moving temporarily to Madrid. Yoav and I started pre-production, remotely, on a different project soon to come, and added in GBL to the mix last minute. Now, Yoav is my first true partner in music, and a dear friend. Shortly after we met he told me he was going to be a musician which astounded me. While I dreamed of being in a band for the first time, he already recorded demos in his bedroom at idk how young and uploaded himself playing Cure to Youtube. Despite this clear gap between us Yoav was a true friend to me and an empathetic partner in the growth of my art. The first time I’ve ever played my songs to an audience, Yoav was there with. He was there the second time too! The production for the song was done in a London studio. Ed layed down the drums for this with Jake engineering. Yoav played Bass and electric guitar while I did acoustic and sang. The result we have here is the closest it could get to the version I wrote on my mother’s kitchen floor. On the brilliant mix we have Yoav and on the master is Roncho. The art here is by the phenomenal Noa my dear friend. Thankful for everyone mentioned here. by @roiesarig
Change.  ‘In With Her’ is one of two definite love songs in this EP, though Joe Talbot rightfully said that “all songs are ‘love songs’”.  In this one, the speaker is tangled in loves’ web and his mental state seems to deteriorate till the inevitable breakdown in the C part.  This one is yet another oldie of mine. Like all the others, I've played it in every show I've ever done. Maybe that's why producing this felt a little bit weird at times for me.  Starting off we looked at Red Hot, Zeppelin & Leily as references and pretty early on it was evident that this wasn't about to sound like the live version I was used to. For instance, the bass-line opener is a total reinvention from earlier versions.  The drums are played by the always smiling Stav Lipitz in Ron’s old apartment by the sea.  The different lead guitars were done by the guitar maestro Nativ Tal.  The mix & master were done by Roncho the Great.  The work done here is a good example of how a song can transform when taking it to the studio. The final version is a great middle point for the EP in my mind. While making this taught me a lot about how to approach production, it also excites me immensely for future productions to come.  The art for this was given by Orit Mazor, my dearest, who expands my artistic horizons every day.  EP is still in my bio :) Thank you by @roiesarig
So this song is probably one of my oldest. I finished writing it when I was 20 and it has been part of every show I've ever done. It has always been my go-to when trying to “impress” a friend in the room. I'm very proud of it and all its weirdness. Till this day I'm not quite sure what's going on (theoretically) in the chorus for example. People around me always had vivid responses to this song.. I have this memory of my friend Itamar asking me ”did you actually write this?” after I finished playing it for him one day. It made me feel like an actual composer which is funny to admit. Lyrically it speaks on some dream sequence, which is something I do often with my songs. Later in life I caught on to messaging regarding my father who passed when I was little. Conversations I had with him (internally obviously) would usually travel from the physical to the emotional. And as such, in this song I observe objects he left behind and weave them into the song. For example he had this brass hourglass in his office which somehow found its way into my possession. I also found that a similar thing happened with another object in a different song from the project, but we'll leave that for another day. In any case, I hope to see these conversations with my father evolve in my music going forward. Production for this song was a pleasure with Uri who's an amazing friend and teacher for me. This is our third song together and I have so much to say about this man but alas, Instagram only allows like 900 words or smth. We layered many guitars on here which is something I'm practically built on. The great Matan hosted us in his studio and laid some beautiful drums for us while engineering the session with Uri. We also have Yoav on the track, who plays with me live and is a wonderful friend. He blessed us with the synth solo + some add. keys. The master was done by the great Roncho. The mix and the art for this here post was done by Uri who's a BIG graphic designer among his many talents. And yeah that's pretty much it. A HUGE thank you to anyone who listens. We're a month since release and there's more to come! Cheers <3 by @roiesarig
So I’m going to break down every song on the new EP (LINK IN BIO). Hebrew on my FB :) “How Hard It Is” So lyrically the premise is pretty straight-forward in my eyes. It contemplates the hardships one might find when trying to do something “well”, or so to say.. “To be good”. I feel that in life we find that doing things is hard and doing them properly is even harder. Also, being kind can be difficult at times and I think this applies to both. Making this with @atronchos , we wanted to do something pretty naked and frail. No drums or prod. avenues used before on the EP. We started with a mix of 2 different classical guitars, the upright bass and vocals. Then we tried to figure out how to fill in the void and felt that a string arrangement would come beautifully into this (which it most certainly did 🙂). Then came @gon.zone who composed the string section, written as a 3 piece for Viola, Violin and Cielo. Gon graciously joined us on every session, tightening our vision on midi, and also provided valuable production input. After all that we brought in the wonderful @hadas.caspi (on Cielo) and @gili_rs (on Viola and Violin) to Ron’s studio and recorded all their parts. These two professionals just made it feel like a breeze. On that note, I honestly feel that these two sessions with Gili, Hadas, Gon & Ron were some of the most fun, sensitive and inspiring sessions I ever took part in (myself doing very little in them), and the beauty of these instruments is a fucking cheat code, I swear! In the room I could feel the song being elevated to something bigger and brighter than I ever could imagine, which fills me with immense gratitude. Weirdly it was the last song we wrapped up on the EP and yet the project starts with it because it just felt right and It still does. The first "Credit Art" is by my eternal love Aya who helps me with everything and anything I do. Her and I have been together for 10 years now, and I can honestly say that I see this song in her and her in it every day as she gets up to do what she sets her sights on. She always shows passion, compassion and determination. Thank you Aye, I love you. by @roiesarig
