Print mixing made simple: 3 rules to pair clashing prints!

Mixing prints can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to mean total chaos. Here’s the formula I use to combine completely different prints.

1) Find the common thread: Choose patterns that share at least one key colour (here, it’s that bold primary red linking the floral coat and tartan skirt).

2) Anchor with solids: Pull that shared colour out into your solid base pieces—like a top or bag—to tie the whole look together without feeling busy.

3) Play with scale & texture: Pair a small-scale graphic print with a larger geometric or plaid, then layer in subtle textures (like a peep of sequin skirt at the hem) to add depth.
