Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit the @svp_ireland textile sorting facility as part of my @threadsnpa research. Seeing the ammount of clothing moving through the system really is something else. ๐Ÿคฏ In Ireland we consume 53kg of new textiles PP per year and over half of that is clothing. The problem doesnt start when we clear out our wardrobes or fill donation bags for the charity shops and clothing banks. It starts with how much we are buying to begin with. Buy Less. Wear More. Shop your Wardrobe, your friends Wardrobe. Buy second hand and when you do buy new try make it count. Unfortunately we cant donate our way out of overconsumption. Lots more from yesterdays vist and my Threads research to come. ๐Ÿ’Œdrop me a DM or email makeyourwardrobework@gmail.com with any questions/ideas or feedback on the programme. #threads #textilewaste #sustainablefashion #slowfashion
