I am incredibly proud to share that Róisin Lafferty Gallery has been awarded Best Cultural and Commercial Project at the @createurs_design_awards 2026. To receive this recognition among such an exceptional international field is both humbling and deeply meaningful.The gallery represents a defining moment in my practice. It is the first project I have conceived entirely on my own terms rather than for a private or commercial client. For many years, my focus was naturally on delivering deeply personal spaces for others. Creating a space for ourselves allowed me to finally give physical form to the atmospheres, emotion and storytelling that underpin everything we do as a studio.Set within a Georgian townhouse overlooking Fitzwilliam Square, the gallery was never intended to function as a traditional showroom. I wanted it to feel like a world you step into rather than a space you simply walk through. Each room is designed to unfold slowly, encouraging a sensory experience where material, light and atmosphere lead the narrative.The opening of the gallery also gave me the opportunity to properly introduce my debut furniture and lighting collections, Sphere and Moonface. These pieces were designed many years ago, but I had never found the right moment or context to present them in the way I had always envisioned. Seeing them exist within a complete and lived environment, alongside rare vintage pieces, contemporary art and exceptional international and Irish design, has been incredibly fulfilling.Collaboration sits at the heart of this project. The gallery is a celebration of the craftspeople, artists, makers, suppliers and creative partners who bring our work to life. It reflects my belief that design is never a solitary act, but something shaped through shared expertise, trust and dialogue.A big moment and so many people to thank for their contribution. GoldenFor me, designing always begins with atmosphere. More than creating beautiful interiors, I aim to harness mood and to shape spaces that evoke emotion and leave a lasting feeling.Golden tones have an extraordinary ability to soften architecture, catching light and reflecting warmth throughout a room. They create enveloping atmospheres that feel immediately inviting, spaces that don’t simply look beautiful, but embrace you the moment you step inside.Across different projects, this palette appears in many forms: richly veined stone, warm metals, natural timber, filtered light and quiet moments of amber. A room designed to slow the pace.At Colt Manor, the music room is conceived as a retreat within the home, wrapped in oak joinery that becomes the architecture of the space itself.More than storage, the joinery frames moments of light, creates places to pause and sit, and brings a sense of warmth and permanence to the room. VictorianaThere is something incredibly special about working with a building that carries so much history.This project has been a careful process of uncovering, restoring and paying homage to the beauty of the original architecture, while thoughtfully shaping its next chapter.Our approach is not to recreate the past, nor to compete with it. Instead, we seek a quiet dialogue between the richness of the building’s history and a contemporary interior architecture that brings clarity, restraint and permanence to every intervention.As layers have been stripped back, the building has revealed details that have quietly guided the design. From the original fabric of the house to the first sketches, material palettes and work now unfolding on site, every decision has become part of the story.For us, restoration is never about preserving a building in time. Looking back on The Library for WOW!house, I’m reminded that it’s often the quietest details that leave the greatest impression.Every material, junction and object was considered as part of a larger narrative. Rather than allowing any single feature to dominate, the intention was to create an immersive environment where architecture, furniture, art and materiality exist in quiet conversation with one another.From richly figured burr timber and expressive stone to concealed moments of display and carefully choreographed light, each element was designed to reveal itself over time.Luxury, to me, isn’t defined by excess. It’s found in intention, craftsmanship and the accumulation of thoughtful details that shape how a space is experienced long after you’ve left it. by @roisinlafferty

I’m incredibly honoured to have been profiled by @eleanor.flegg for the @independent.ie .Eleanor has supported and championed my work for many years, documenting both my projects and the evolution of the studio.
