I am incredibly proud to share that Róisin Lafferty Gallery has been awarded Best Cultural and Commercial Project at the @createurs_design_awards 2026. To receive this recognition among such an exceptional international field is both humbling and deeply meaningful.The gallery represents a defining moment in my practice. It is the first project I have conceived entirely on my own terms rather than for a private or commercial client. For many years, my focus was naturally on delivering deeply personal spaces for others. Creating a space for ourselves allowed me to finally give physical form to the atmospheres, emotion and storytelling that underpin everything we do as a studio.Set within a Georgian townhouse overlooking Fitzwilliam Square, the gallery was never intended to function as a traditional showroom. I wanted it to feel like a world you step into rather than a space you simply walk through. Each room is designed to unfold slowly, encouraging a sensory experience where material, light and atmosphere lead the narrative.The opening of the gallery also gave me the opportunity to properly introduce my debut furniture and lighting collections, Sphere and Moonface. These pieces were designed many years ago, but I had never found the right moment or context to present them in the way I had always envisioned. Seeing them exist within a complete and lived environment, alongside rare vintage pieces, contemporary art and exceptional international and Irish design, has been incredibly fulfilling.Collaboration sits at the heart of this project. The gallery is a celebration of the craftspeople, artists, makers, suppliers and creative partners who bring our work to life. It reflects my belief that design is never a solitary act, but something shaped through shared expertise, trust and dialogue.A big moment and so many people to thank for their contribution. As summer light moves gently through the gallery, familiar forms are reimagined.Róisín's Moonface wall lights and Tom Faulkner's Lily Cocktail Tables share a playful design language, where inspiration is drawn from the familiar yet transformed through craftsmanship, scale and material. One references the moon, enlarged into a sculptural presence that anchors the wall, while the other captures the irregular silhouette of a lily pad, appearing to float effortlessly upon slender stems. Crafted in aged solid brass and Volterra alabaster, Moonface explores the relationship between light, material and form. The collection comprises four complementary variations that can be used individually as sculptural statements or composed in multiples, where the collection extends beyond individual wall lights to become an architectural feature in its own right. The simplicity of the circular form allows endless possibilities, transforming a familiar shape into something expressive, atmospheric and enduring. Alongside, the hand-cast Venetian glass Lily Cocktail Tables introduce another playful interpretation of nature. Their softly contoured tops appear to float above slender stems, creating a composition of varying heights that shifts beautifully as light moves across the glass. Objects of Note, at Róisín Lafferty Gallery.Continuing our series in collaboration with @hedgehogsvsfoxes, this week we explore the work of multidisciplinary artist Arran Rahimian.Rahimian's paintings are shaped as much by process as by image. Layers are built, obscured and reworked, allowing traces of earlier gestures to remain visible beneath the surface. Pencil, pigment and raw linen exist together without hierarchy, creating compositions that feel instinctive while remaining carefully resolved. Rather than working towards a predetermined outcome, Rahimian allows each painting to evolve through making. Fleeting marks, fragments of colour and areas of exposed canvas preserve a sense of movement, while an instinctive restraint ensures the works never feel overworked. Every addition has purpose, leaving space for the raw linen and earlier gestures to remain an integral part of the composition. It is this balance of intuition and restraint that drew Róisín to Rahimian's work. The beauty of an interior is often discovered in its smallest moments.Oscar Niemeyer's Alta Chair and Ottoman embody the sculptural language that defined his architecture. Upholstered in white leather, their sweeping curves and generous proportions balance softness with structure, creating a silhouette that remains as compelling today as when it was first conceived.Resting beside them, an Onyx Bosca plinth from Róisín Lafferty's collection reflects a material language long present throughout her interior architecture. Meaning "box" in Irish, the Bosca Collection comprises sculptural marble, quartzite and onyx plinths, handcrafted in Ireland and individually cut to honour the unique beauty of every stone. Designed as functional objects and sculptural forms, each piece is defined by its own natural veining, tone and character, ensuring no two are ever the same. Completing the composition is a vintage ceramic Pirelli glove mould from Italy. Originally created as an industrial tool for producing rubber gloves, these ceramic forms have been recontextualised as sculptural objects. Varying in scale, proportion and gesture, each piece retains the individuality of its original mould. Light, drawn through space.Featured within our private residential project, The Estate, the Fabric Flexible Light by Morghen Studio traces a continuous line across the entrance hall, introducing movement and fluidity within the original Georgian interiors. Its flowing form creates a beautiful contrast with the permanence of stone, plaster and metal.Founded in Milan, Morghen Studio approaches lighting as both object and atmosphere. Every piece is handcrafted, combining traditional craftsmanship with experimentation and contemporary materials to create works that exist somewhere between design, art and architecture.The Fabric Flexible Light reflects this approach beautifully. Installed as a singular gesture or extending throughout an interior, each composition is entirely unique. The illuminated textile bends and curves with an effortless sense of play, transforming light into something sculptural, tactile and unexpectedly expressive.Like so much of Morghen Studio's work, it asks us to look beyond the function of lighting alone. A fleeting moment, captured in hand carved glass.This Deer Sculpture by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta Boda reflects the poetic restraint that defines the very best of Scandinavian glassmaking. Hand carved from turquoise toned glass, the delicately engraved deer appears to emerge from within the solid form itself, its silhouette gradually revealing new depth and clarity as light moves across the surface. Frosted and polished planes create an evocative sense of depth, recalling the stillness of a Nordic winter landscape. Every angle offers a different perspective, where transparency, texture and colour continually reshape the composition. Lindstrand was celebrated for combining extraordinary technical skill with a deeply poetic approach to glass. A new expression of Irish craftsmanship.Róisín Lafferty Gallery is proud to present the Elk Chair by Modet. Over three years in development, founder and furniture designer Paul O'Brien thoughtfully refined every curve, junction and proportion, resulting in a sculptural chair that reflects an uncompromising commitment to form, material and making.Inspired by the grace and strength of the ancient Irish Elk, the chair reveals a different expression from every angle. Its flowing silhouette balances sculptural presence with exceptional comfort, while the interplay of sweeping curves and precise joinery gives the piece a remarkable sense of movement.Meticulously hand carved from twelve individual pieces of solid timber, each Elk Chair requires more than 150 hours of skilled craftsmanship to complete. Light, held within sculpture.The Carnivale Piro Wall Sconce by Atelier001 transforms illumination into an object of remarkable artistry. Inspired by the enchantment and theatre of the carnival, its sculptural form is handcrafted in London from a hand-spun brass plate, finished in the rich, naturally varied Callisto patina. No two pieces are ever exactly alike, each surface revealing its own depth, texture and character through the hand-finishing process.Softly illuminated from within, the Piro casts a warm, atmospheric glow that accentuates the richness of its patinated surface. Objects of Note, at Róisín Lafferty Gallery.Continuing our series in collaboration with @hedgehogsvsfoxes, this week Róisín introduces the Carrinho de Chá Tea Trolley by Jorge Zalszupin.Designed for L'Atelier in Brazil during the 1970s, the Carrinho de Chá is one of the defining works of Brazilian modernism. Crafted from richly figured hardwood, its elegant steel frame and distinctive brass wheels create a remarkable balance between warmth, precision and lightness, transforming an everyday object into a sculptural piece of furniture. Every detail has been thoughtfully resolved. The flowing grain of the timber is beautifully framed by the refined metal structure, while the brass wheels introduce both movement and character, allowing the trolley to move effortlessly through a space. Functional by nature yet sculptural in presence, it reflects Jorge Zalszupin's remarkable ability to elevate utility through craftsmanship, material and proportion. Between light and shadow, emotion unfolds.In The Killing Moon, Hugh O'Conor's sensitivity to light and atmosphere comes to the fore. His photography is rooted in observation rather than spectacle, creating images that feel deeply intimate while resisting easy interpretation. Each composition invites a lingering gaze, revealing emotion through restraint rather than narrative.Drawing on decades of visual storytelling across film and theatre, O'Conor has developed a photographic language that is entirely his own. One of the great icons of twentieth century design has arrived at Róisín Lafferty Gallery.Sourced in collaboration with Domhnall O'Gairbhí, we are delighted to welcome the Transat Chair by Eileen Gray, presented in its classic black lacquered finish with black leather upholstery.Originally conceived for the terrace of Gray's celebrated villa E.1027, the Transat draws inspiration from the deck chairs found aboard transatlantic ocean liners. What began as a familiar, functional object was distilled into something altogether more refined. Every element serves a purpose, from the sculptural black lacquered frame and polished chromed joints to the suspended leather sling and adjustable headrest, creating a chair that feels effortlessly relaxed while remaining beautifully precise.There is a remarkable honesty to the design. Nothing feels excessive or decorative, yet every proportion has been carefully considered. Nearly a century on, the Transat continues to feel entirely contemporary.
