It's paperback publication day! I am thrilled to see Nesting making its way into the world in this gorgeous new format. Thank you to @sophiemissing @publishingpolly and the team at @scribneruk for all the hard work that has gone into creating this beautiful paperback design. I am a bit obsessed with the new colour scheme, which is sort of orange/coral? There is also a pink edition available exclusively at independent book shops @booksaremybag

AND Nesting will feature on tonight's Irish Book of the Year show on RTE One at 10.15pm @irishbookawards. What a year it has been!

What a week it has been! I have been overwhelmed by the reaction to the @womensprize longlist. I haven't been able to keep up with all the messages! Thank you for all the love and support ❤️

The longlist was announced at 8am on Tuesday, which is peak School Run time in our house. But I had a plan. I got my children and their school bags loaded into the car and got everyone seat belted. By 7.58am, we were ready. I said to my daughters, 'Here, before we set off, we're going to just watch this wee video for a sec.' I held my phone balanced between us in the car as the live announcement began to play, and when Nesting came up we all screamed our heads off 🤣 it was very cathartic 🤣 the neighbours must have thought we had totally lost the plot, but my girls thought it was great. It felt so special to share that moment with them.

I have been following the Women's Prize for Fiction ever since I was a teenager, back when it was the Orange Prize, and I have discovered some of my favourite authors through the list. I never could have imagined I would see my name on the longlist one day. It really is the stuff of dreams.

Thank you to the judges, and congratulations to my fellow longlisted authors. I am planning to read all 15 of your novels in the next few weeks. Yes, really. I am at the very early stages with my new novel, and it feels like I could do much worse than to spend a few weeks immersed in 15 brilliant women's voices. Also, it is unlikely I will be getting much writing done in the next while. As my mum would say, I am up to the high doe about this longlist (that's a Derry expression and I do not believe there is a translation, but you get what I mean!!)

Thank you to my wonderful editors @sophiemissing @betsyg1070 my agent @birneeleanor at @rcwliteraryagency and the incredible teams at @scribneruk @simonschusteruk and @algonquinbooks who are just as excited about this as I am!

People have been asking if I did anything to celebrate on Tuesday? Well, it was Pancake Day, so I made pancakes with my daughters, which does not sound very glam - but if you've read Nesting, you'll understand when I say it was just perfect ❤️ by @roisinodonnellwriter

Thanks @djsaracox for a brilliant book club chat at @bbcradio2 in Stirling yesterday!

Flying visit, over and back in a day. Smuggled my Nibbie in my hand luggage. Heard Texas! Saw Lulu getting her photo taken on this orange step thing. Lots of coffee. Great chat with author Val McDermott. Flights delayed both ways because of a certain lad visiting from the US 🙄🙄🙄 what a day!

What a night at the @thebritishbookawards! I took a whirlwind trip from Ireland over to London just for the evening, thinking at least it would be a nice relaxing time, where I probably wouldn't be required to stand up and say anything... I then had the shock of my life when Nesting actually WON the inaugural @bbcradio2 Book Club prize.

I am so grateful to the team at Radio 2, @djsaracox @schmotime and the @readingagency. The judging panel for this new award included librarians from across the UK and Ireland, so it really meant the world to me, as libraries have been such an important part of my life as a reader and as a writer.

Thank you to my incredible dream team at @scribneruk @simonschusteruk, in particular @publishingpolly, my editor @sophiemissing and my agent @birneeleanor who have taken Nesting to their hearts from that very first zoom call 💗

It was great to catch up with lovely authors including @nussaibahyounis and @marxia1, who took home the Discoveries prize 🎉 Also, who should turn up at the nibbies but Simon from my Dublin team at @gillhessltd who have been so so brilliant.

One last thing, if you are ever travelling with your British Book Award nibbie 🏆 don't carry it in your hand luggage! Very funny conversation between security guards at Heathrow, as they stared bewildered at the scanner:
"What on earth is THAT?"
"It's like... some sort of massive.. fountain pen???"

How lucky was I to stand in for @djsaracox to present the FIRST EVER @bbcradio2 Book Club Award. Was @thebritishbookawards @grosvenorhouselondon who put on a cracking show. My thanks to @roisinodonnellwriter for giving so much of her time to me and @schmotime (Sara's super producer). Rosin's book is NESTING. by @roisinodonnellwriter
