Belt ceremony to anniversary. Way to wrap up my second year hitting the mats. (Shout out to the Monday morning and night crew! Enjoyed the double dose of rolls!) Congrats to all who got promoted! So proud of you all, honored to be able to train alongside you.

A year ago today, this happened. I love surprises! And I love surprising others. 😂🥰 Minha irmã, you inspired me to continue getting out of my comfort zone and do something I never thought I would. We competed at our first Compnet a month later. You are missed from many miles away! Thank you for your love and support always. Miss you so much. Until you’re back or until I visit you. 😅😅😅 Every time I get to compete, I think of you, Barney, and our GB family, and all who have been there from the start. I’ve got the bluuuuees! It’s been about a year since I got the first stripe on my white belt. Tonight I received a new belt, thank you Professor @rodgb72 and Coach Ading @alanahgb_bjj. My last fundamentals class as a white belt means so much more. The white belt chapter is a unique one, and I’m proud of what I’ve been able to experience and accomplish.

There are many more to thank, I wish I could tag you all, my family and friends, my @graciebarra family, all Professors, coaches, teammates, training partners, and friendly opponents. Thank you for the unending love and support. I am grateful to train and share the mats with you all. You are a part of this journey with me, and I’m so blessed. Here’s to learning and growing, putting in the work, and getting better every day in this gentle art.

Glad that my body remembers how to run after some time off! #HappyNewYear I stopped running daily after an ankle sprain in the summer. Gotta keep moving forward.

12/4/21 vs. 12/4/22

365 days later, still coming back for more. Last December Professor @aubreykoenig returned my call with info about BarraFit and GB1 classes. A year ago today I stepped into @graciebarra_hq for the first time. Helped out by Coach @somermanmason, Coach @renatabgaspar ran the BarraFit class at 9, stayed for the All Levels class at 10. Got my first gi to try on at home and questioned what I was doing. Glad I went in for class the next morning, and the next…

How do you measure a year? Sweat, blood, tears, and bruises…ALL the bruises. 😂Hours of training, weeks in and out of illness, injury, and recovery. Four stripes, four competitions 🥈🥉🥉🥇. Early mornings, late nights, some double days. Pounds and self-doubt down; confidence, discipline, and strength gained.

Another family, new friendships, countless memories made and lessons learned. Never would I have thought I’d be doing what I am doing now. To a friend who encouraged me to take a trial class—thanks for telling me to just do it. Thank you to all my professors, teammates, training partners, to the GB schools I’ve visited for the warm welcome/welcome back, my friends and family. For the love, support, for pushing and challenging me. I can’t fit all the tags, and I wouldn’t want to leave anyone out, you all continue to be a part of this journey with me. I’m so blessed and thankful every day, on and off the mats. Here’s to 365 more days and then some. 🤍 🤙🏽 💪🏽🔺 #roadtoasRx #rollasRx #happyanniversary #happyrollaversary? 🙃

Third time’s a charm? (At CompNet) 😅 Pushed myself physically and mentally these last two weeks. Back-to-back weekends. It was worth it. Win and learn. Always, ALWAYS about the journey and those with you. I never considered myself a fighter, on or off the mats. I found that part of myself today, she was there all along. Took quite some time, but it was about time.

My love and thanks to sooooo many. Wish I could tag you all. Wouldn’t be where I am now with you. 😭❤️ To my Family and friends.
