Silly season is upon us a little early thanks to @ilovepero constant urge for us to look for the child in ourselves.

The terrific Aneeth Arora, the force behind India’s strongest fashion brands Pero, has spent 17 years building a label that insists on playfulness, whimsy and joy in fashion and our everyday lives. All this with a firm but nearly invisible eye on handmade textiles, hand tooled craft, indigenous traditions and everything that can be made in India.

This season, péro brought its signature craftsmanship and playful design language teaming up with Barbie, in a show presented by @lakmeindia and @tirabeauty . The clothes celebrated individuality, self-expression and the freedom to dress without boundaries, with layers of relaxed shapes, fun prints, crochet, lace and their typical handcrafted details.

Pero stands for love, and love and an expression of love is all that is needed in a world divided by borders and hate. Pero’s stance is coincidentally echoed in the youth of India fearlessly holding a government accountable.

At Bulgari’s celebration of Diwali, ‘Passing The Light’, in Jaipur, actor and author Twinkle Khanna @twinklerkhanna speaks of the importance of listening to and learning from the youth, and that wisdom and wonder is shared both ways.

The Roman jewellery house celebrates Diwali in Jaipur, on the first day of Navratri, with a spectacular installation of terracotta lamps by artist @doyeljoshi at the City Palace.

Joshi speaks of the universality and grounding properties of terracotta. It is used to make lamps for a farmer’s home or a king’s palace, and provides the same brilliance everywhere.

The monumental “Passing the Light” installation of 4,500 hand-sculpted terracotta pieces, inspired by traditional diyas and shaped in the hypnotic
geometry of the Bulgari Serpenti motif’s iconic scales pattern. This artwork comes to life through an unwavering commitment to co-authorship, honoring the ancestral mastery of the local kumhar community and the craftswomen who shaped each piece m. Celebrating these artisans as true co-creators, the project unites Doyel’s
contemporary vision with ancient traditions, where living heritage, generational knowledge, and
communal hands sustain an unbroken light.

On the stage with them are Sujata Assomull, journalist and author, Stephane Larher, MD of Bulgari India and Middle East, and Noelle Kadar of Jaipur Centre for Art.

‘Satish Gujral: A Modernist Returns’ is a mammoth retrospective celebrating the late and illustrious artist’s centennial anniversary.

It has been put together by @gujralfoundation and @jsw.foundation and was inaugurated by Mr Gujral’s family, Pheroza Godrej, Sangita Jindal and Urmila Kanoria. The exhibit is on at the NGMA, Mumbai, until November 21.

Show curator Pramod Kumar KG @topophilia.india of @ekaculturalresources speaks to ROLLA about his association with Gujral over the last decade of the artist, and how India affected his art through various media.

Did we finally get bored of looking perfect?

The slick bun. The barely-there makeup. The beige uniform. The tiny gold hoops. Clean girl gave us a formula — and then everyone started looking the same.

Now the pendulum is swinging back: bigger hair, louder jewellery, visible makeup, colour, texture and clothes with an actual point of view.

Maybe maximalism isn’t about doing too much. Maybe it’s just about being interesting again.
