Manish Malhotra celebrates 15 years of helming possibly what is the most celebrated project in craft and social enterprise, the Mijwan Welfare Show, fronted by Shabana Azmi in memory of her father, the genius poet Kaifi Azmi.

Year after year, Malhotra’s team works with the women trained by the Mijwan trust to present beautiful collections in the chikankari embroidery of the region. Inviting celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone , Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt to walk the ramp and present the clothes.

This year, he had on his runway Bhatt and Kaushal, fresh of the announcement of their film ‘Love & War’, helmed by auteur Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

But despite the stars on the runway, the hero was truly the collection. An extraordinary attempt at making the old but very popular chikan embroidery a global star. The styles were mostly evening cocktail wear, with pant suits, pencil skirts, fitted dresses, corsets, and shrugs, each one showing the exceptional manner in which Indian crafts can dress anyone anywhere in the world. A special mention must be made on the excellent use of men’s jewellery, even chokers teamed with jackets.

Our first guest is the leading Indian designer @manishmalhotra05 whose celebrity and clout matches that of any movie star. Malhotra is fresh off the runway from his debut at Paris Couture Week, he has appeared at New York's Met Gala twice, and has a swanky store at Dubai Mall.

He also turned film producer last year with two releases by his production house Stage5 Productions.

Malhotra also dissected the giant investment made into his company by @reliancebrandsltd and charts the growth map for his fashion empire to achieve the Rs 1000-crore-a-year league.
