Yesterday we celebrated the stars of @echoparkrising, the incredible performers and artists who took to the stage, storefronts, parking lots, and even bus stops(!) to entertain us all this past weekend. Today, we focus on the citizens of echo park rising. The event wouldn’t have been the spectacle that it was if it for the color, energy, and joy its citizens brought to Sunset Boulevard.

From serving sips to serving looks, all the main characters were out. Special shout out to my man in slide 18 who found himself trapped with his luggage in the midst of a mosh pit. Head on a swivel, papito.

LA’s sprawl often gets in the way of its “greatest city on earth,” ambitions. But every August @echoparkrising returns and throws the grandest celebration of art & community this town can muster. It rules. It’s a joyous, raucous, and this year, THREE DAY LONG, blowout full of discovery, camaraderie, strong sips, and good eats.

As a New Yorker living in LA, I live for weekends like this. The cars were second class citizens along this strip of Sunset this weekend—they should have closed it off for traffic tbh. The streets were packed with people WALKING with their best fits on even in the scorching heat. This is really the best weekend in this city, and if you didn’t make it out this year, definitely come out next! taken in Echo Park, Los Angeles by @romanmf
