you’ve probably seen her pop up from time to time here but this is my lil pup Sandy. she showed up one year after our cat tiki and has been defending the house from brooms, boxes and other inanimate objects for 17 years. from car rides to hikes and early morning kayaking to backyard grills, beach days, family gatherings, and movie nights she was a staple in the Romano home.

a small dog but a mighty righteous one indeed

I guess it’s summer now? I moved to Moab and been playing around. Springs been good. Got to go home for a bit, saw the fam and mi perro. Skied another classic: tukuhnikivatz-where the sun sets last. On the water a bunch too. Been slowly checking out arches NP, reading, lots of cooking & dish cleaning. Also back running after my injury. Picture 1.) my house last summer. wayyy out there huh. in October of last year, I packed up and drove 6 hrs south to the big city after living in montana for the past year. While not entirely new to the valley, I was excited to spend more time in this new area and see old friends. Now with warmer weather just around the corner, I bid you adieu slc. With new headliners, everyday about our public lands threatened by that fascist orange blob and his anti American cult f*cks, reading and seeing our neighbors taken from their communities and punished for speaking their minds about war, their bodies, and what it actually means to be an American, (tho this is our constitutional right), the genocide overseas and people forced from their land, and our country run by the mega rich, I’ve had a hard time being positive about the future. I find it ironic I’m typing this on instagram, considering it’s meta, BUT I find it hard to delete because then I have no way to keep up with all of y’all’s lives. Yet the internet allows me to read about the following as well.
-eco litigation surged-UKs, Swiss’s, South Korea, and germanys govt were deemed unlawful in their lack of environmental policies and how they violated human rights forcing them to go back and write them again
-indigenous communities in the phillappines continue to restore native vegetation to replace logging and agriculture
-solar and other renewable energy projects are still on the rise around the world
-Goldman recipient Mari Luz Canquiri Murayari
Keep talking about these things, read more. Take up space. You r good people
These few, but fast months in slc have been amazing. My first big city livin since leaving Brooklyn was interesting, and coming from a lil town like Ennis with literally 0 stoplights was weird. The second pic you see was my second day in the slc valley-many bike rides, ski days, dinners, laughs, and community connections have kept me positive about good people there are out there. To the older peeps, im glad to have had the chance to see ya! to my newer friends, im happy to have met yall and thank you for showing me around :) taken in Utah by @romano_cheese__

my mom was always a dog person. Then in 2008, the first day of summer vacation after moving into our new house, we got our first cat. A farm down the road had new kittens. we walked in and this one strolled over and said hi. 16.5 years later-I just said my final goodbye.

She was a weird cat, but when are they not. She had a double ear, essentially two lefts. Didn’t like her tummy touched. She liked watermelon, drank from the faucet & along the way caught her fair share of mice. She was a travelin’ cat too, with visits to PA and NYC. She loved to lounge in the yard with you while you read or gardened. She liked to steal your sandwiches if you left them unattended. And always found the best nap spots.

Found my way up to the northwest of this state a few weeks back. A lil bit of bikes & trains on the Hiawatha including a 8000 ft. tunnel, smoky sunrise over snowshoe peak, new growth on the east side of GNP, a jaunt on Buffalo rapids with the creature crafts, & grinnell glacier. And some ole creek fishin yielding the goods
