MENTALLY DISPERSED

When one thinks of theatre, one can immediately locate themselves confronted by curtains. Working across performance and image capture, Roman Sheppard Dawson lives inside his own mental theatre, where theatrical apparatus is used to evoke a more sensual approach to performance, via these kind of drawings.

Join us at UCL East to see an installation of work by artist and Slade graduate Roman Sheppard Dawson.

'Performance Site' explores the conditions of the rehearsal space, where performance is tested and risked behind closed doors. The camera becomes an active participants in the work, its gaze shifting depending on who is operating the camera. In this respect, the work is dance with the camera as opposed to dance for the camera.

Open 9th June - 9th July. Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm.

Late night opening every Wednesday 6-7pm.

Launch event on Wednesday 11th June, 6-8.30pm. Book your ticket via the link in our bio.

Free and open to all. taken in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park by @romanshepdaw

We’re pleased to introduce Roman Sheppard Dawson @romanshepdaw through a glimpse of his two-channel film Performance Site — part of his ongoing exploration into stage language and the blurred lines between on-screen space and what lies beyond it.
Roman‘s film and 2D work will be featured in Stage, opening May 9 at SET Woolwich.
