This duet was my first introduction to dark fantasy early last year and I absolutely fell in love with Liv’s writing style & story telling ✨

If you enjoyed the The Heartstring Duet then do your self a favour and read this duet 🖤 But please check the trigger warnings 💀

QOTD: Have you read Court of Ravens? 🐦‍⬛

Deathbringer 🌹

A dark academia fantasy debut by @sonia.tagliareni

Meet Viola, who despises her necromantic magic. It killed her sister, Olivia, and now threatens to claim her life, too.

Desperate for answers and a way to control her lethal powers, Viola enrols at the Gorhail Institute of Magic, a treacherous academy where Olivia once studied. But the secrets buried within its walls are far more dangerous than she imagined.

Her biggest obstacle is Sylas, an immortal poison mage fiercely opposed to everything death magic represents. But when students begin turning up dead, the two enemies are drawn into a deadly mystery and have no choice but to forge an alliance.

My thoughts: This book was dark, delicious, and utterly gripping. It completely hooked me, and I love that I couldn't predict where the story was going. If you're looking for your next unputdownable read, I highly recommend this one!

Tropes: Dark academia romantasy, enemies to lovers, shared grief, forced proximity, forbidden magic, and a deadly murder mystery.

My preorder finally arrived, but not without drama! It was sent via mail the morning of release day for same day delivery, so naturally, I was so flipping excited…. But then I got an email that afternoon saying Aus Post had tried to deliver it and that it had gone to my local PO for collection! Umm, I was home all day! So I had the lovely inconvenience of having to pick it up yesterday. Anyhoo, I’ve got it in my hands will be reading it this weekend 🙌🏻

I’ve stayed away from spoilers, but I can definitely see there are mixed reviews… it’s a novella and I feel it will be fun just to be back at Basgiath 🩶

September Reading Wrap ✨️

The most surprising read this month was Warrior Princess Assassin. I've had it sitting on my shelf for over 10 months... but the cover just never enticed me (I'm a sucker for a beautiful cover!), but I finally decided to read it and was pleasantly surprised.

Least favourite read was The Kings of Kearny, just wasn't my cup of tea... and I loved Lights Out 🫶

How many have you read from my wrap-up?
