~ prince of swords ~ by @elise.kova ⚔️👑✨♠️

hello and happy monday!!! 🫶🏻

sorry i have been inactive. i had 3 shifts in a row at my new job so that took up all my time. for those that don’t know, i have been a nurse for almost 2 years and just recently transferred from my old unit to the cardiac icu! it has been a great experience so far. there is so much to learn and taking care of such critical patients has been really rewarding 🫀🩺

here is one of my current reads: prince of swords! i fell in love with arcana academy last year and have been eagerly awaiting the second book. i’m 10% through and loving it. truthfully i thought i’d be done by now but life had other plans. i’m also going to start a dance of lies and finish up my audio read of adversary to the villian (one of my fav series!) 🩷

the romantasy.kait take on the “kinda chic” trend - bookish edition 📖✨✍🏼

i could have done a lot more but these were the ones i came up with first 😊

HEAVY on the first and last one. moral of the story: read and post whatever you want. remove unnecessary negativity from your life. support books and authors and booksellers. and buy that special edition because you deserve it!

~ to cage a wild bird review ~ 📖🕊️❤️✍🏼

i’m here with another review this week! while they never perform well, i still want to share in case others are on the fence about this 😊

dystopian stories rarely fail me. it always brings me back to the nostalgic era of divergent, the hunger games, etc. this is a good adult take on the stories i grew up with. this felt like it could have been a movie i watched on the big screen in my teen years 🎬

i gave this 3.75 stars…which i think is a really good rating despite what others may think 😂

Raven was a pretty solid FMC. she is tough and easily distrustful of others. she has a major soft spot for her little brother and feels responsible for his well-being. through a series of events, Raven winds up in a high security prison with one goal in mind: rescue her brother. to make matters worse, many of the prisoners were put there by Raven herself…can you say AWKWARD. the actual worst part though??? the prisoners are hunted for sport by the wealthy classes ❌

Vale felt like a standard MMC for this genre. he doesn’t stand out to me, but i don’t dislike him either. was this supposed to be enemies to lovers? because it was NOT. i’m not a fan of the insta-love trope and the relationship moved so quickly that it gave me whiplash.

i’ll be continuing with the second book to see where this goes. i had a great time with this overall and if you want a dystopian that’s easy to digest, this is for you 🫵 taken in BOOKSTA by @romantasy.kait

~ bloody black review ~ 🏴‍☠️🗡️⚓️🌊

this is such a good standalone summer read! i gave this 4.25 ⭐️ and had a really fun time with it. i read this is one sitting and was easily sucked in to the world and anne’s quest for revenge on all the men who wronged her.

the feminine rage and found family aspects of the book were excellent. the blackbeard retelling, but make it a strong female, was such a unique take on well-known lore. i thought some of the side characters were more interesting than the main ones at times. i loved what their different personalities and motivations brought to the story.

i’m only taking off for the romance. the mmc didn’t do it for me and that was the biggest letdown. i wanted more tension and buildup of their relationship because i thought it progressed pretty fast. i was expecting him to be morally grey like anne, but he was untimately a big softie. i guess when i picked up a pirate romantasy i wanted the mmc to be more…bad? this is fully a red flag on my part 🚩

there is some sensitive material in this book so be aware of that! always check those trigger warnings folks ⚠️

~ 6 over 600 stack ~ thanks for the tag @mellowmoodreader 🫶🏻📚

these are some THICK ones and this stack weighed a ton. i love a big book that turns out to be a five star read. it makes all the time and dedication worth it! out of the four i’ve read, i personally feel like only one of these had no business being this long…

let’s play a game: can you guess the two from this stack that i haven’t read? if you know me, one should be eliminated pretty quickly. both are very high up on the tbr though 🤭

~ pantone birth chart trend ~ ♍️

look at me hopping on a trend within the first few weeks! i actually really like my colors for this but it was hard to find fantasy book covers for some. i had to pull out some special edition covers 📖

i’ve always been a typical virgo - organized, practical, prone to overthinking 😂

~ realm of thieves ~ by @authorhalle 🐉🗡️🌋

this is such an underrated book that does dragons a little bit different! i gave this four stars last year ⭐️

short synopsis:

dragon eggs are highly valuable due to the magic they possess. they can even grant magical abilities to those that consume them. it takes a very skilled thief to illegally obtain these eggs. this is not a dragon-rider series from what i’ve seen at this point.

i think this was made even better by incorporating mafia politics. rival syndicates send people to retrieve eggs. Brynla, the FMC, serves one of these powerful families before she is forcibly taken by another to do the same work. she meets the MMC, Andor. he is charming, protective, strong, and surprisingly full of depth. i believe this is supposed to be endometriosis rep as well which i appreciated!

~ the exquisite torment of loving your enemy ~ 💙🗡️✨🌙

“you 𝘢𝘳𝘦 wild enough for me”

it’s so hard to put into words how much i adore this duology. dare i say…this was even better than book one!

there are an endless number of beautiful quotes and scenes that will leave you begging for more time with aurienne and osric. the yearning is off the charts! there is just enough drama to keep you invested, but not overwhelmed. this is the perfect balance of banter and raunchy lines mixed with serious moments that really propel the story forward.

the added worldbuilding in book two was really special. i feel like i learned more about each order, their motivations, and how everything is connected. i’m so glad i did this as an immersive read. listening to the narrators (who are phenomenal) and reading it with my own eyes helped bring some really beautiful scenes to life in my head.

brigitte - you are an absolute goddess. your humor is unmatched and the characters you write are perfection.

~ match my disney ears ~ 💫🏰✨

happy wednesday book friends 🩶

i accidentally took a week off posting because my creativity has hit a wall. i have no clue what to post most days! i need to start creating a content planner because everything has been spur of the moment so far 😂

not going to lie though…posting for low views and being stuck at the same follower count for months is exhausting. if you know me, you know that i always come on here to engage with posts/stories/etc. any tips for how to grow your account?

ANYWAY disney and books are my two sources of joy in life. i did a similar post around this time last year and thought it was really cute. i collect ears and have about 20 pairs in different themes and colors!
