When you think of books set on Prince Edward Island, ones that come to mind right away are novels like Lucy Maud Montgomery’s many works of art (Anne of Green Gables to name one) or Carley Fortune’s This Summer Will Be Different - but did you know The Late Night Witches by Auralee Wallace also falls under that?

In ‘The Late Night Witches’ our FMC, Cassie Beckett, is not looking forward to the witching month of October while also dealing with her wild sister, unruly kids and absent husband. While gorgeous and foggy Prince Edward Island is usually quiet and peaceful, that is quickly ruined by the arrival of some unwanted Vampires, leaving it up to Cassie to finish what generations of witches before her started. Described as a super light, silly adventure filled with humour and hysterics.

Said to give Halloweentown meets Buffy the vampire meets practical magic vibes 🧡🍂✨🔮

As an Islander, I love finding books that feature my home ❤️ so pair that with some light spooky energy, you get a perfect Halloween read 😍✨

There’s something about Thanksgiving ✨🧡

Being surrounded by good food, family gathers together, you don’t need to buy anything for anyone, and if you’re as lucky as I am, it’s beautiful outside. (PEI is one gorgeous gorgeous girl in the fall)

I snagged this copy of The Ex Hex at a book sale at the beginning of the month for $2 and I’m planning to read it after I finish Grim Tidings (I’m only a few chapters in but I can ALREADY tell it’s gunna be hella good).

Aka I saw @lolly.reads do a fun trend and it just so happens that I wonder shit all the time, so what’s a better time then this to ask some things?? I don’t know where this originated but I saw that Lolly tagged @allisonmsully as her inspo, so definitely go check out both of their posts because both are 10/10. Still contemplating how I want to answer one of the f*ck/marry/kill on Lollys post because im stumped 🤔

Better late than never 🙈🧡🍂

As always (it seems) I’m late posting my monthly recap 🥲 life has been busy and the one thing I promised myself this year was instead of feeling stressed about needing to post, I’d find the time whenever I could. I never want my posts to feel forced or sloppy - so I’d rather wait until I can give my full attention to an edit.

September had its bumps, but it was mostly good to me. I’m bummed because usually September is one of my favorite months of the year, but I find our weather this month has been more wet and colder than usual. Last year I went to the beach a handful of more times because it was perfect sweatshirt but not chilly weather, but it’s been a whole lot of blah lately. 10/10 sunrises and sunsets though I gotta say 👏🏻👏🏻

On deck for October I’m wanting to read a couple of spooky romance books and hopefully the next book I need to read in the TOG series! I have a couple of friends wanting to buddy read the new Burn of the Everflame book so I’m just waiting until the gang is all ready before I start that one too. Looking like lots of good reads in the next few weeks and I can’t lie, that makes me really excited 😛😍😍

This was just a fun little post to take me over until it’s time for my September recap and while also trying to get some more reading in before the end of the month!

If Not You by Ellen O’Clover 🌳🌆🌊👩🏻‍💻❤️

I’m having one of those weeks my friends so I’m late to congratulate @ellenoclover on the release of this beauty!!

GUYS THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD!!! Don’t get me wrong, enemies to lovers in an office setting has been done before, but Ellen’s writing is just literally gold. I read this in three days and she just sucked me in with her story telling. You could find this trope anywhere, and sure it’s a little bit predictable, but the character development and the writing here keeps you completely hooked. This book tells the story of Mattie French who, after a very lonely childhood has worked herself crazy to climb up the ladder at work. But she’s still haunted everywhere she goes by an old coworker she met when she landed her first internship. It’s been five years and he seems to be everywhere she is and constantly beats her at everything. The fact that these accomplishments come so easy to him is infuriating to Mattie and she is so tired coming in second to him. So she’s going to change that and work her butt off to beat him at this next challenge. This book touches on friends who become family, the changes that come with adulthood, and not judging a book by its cover. But in this case, the book cover is really cute and accurately shows how good this book is! Make sure you add this to your TBR, because it’s too good not to!!!!! Things I’m eating up lately 🥐🍓🍯

So I’ve been dabbling in the animation section on Canva, and after watching like fifteen tutorials and playing around for longer than I want to admit, this is my end result! I completely realize this is amateur status but I thought it was cute! If you know any creators who share tips though pls tag them so I can go try and polish my edits even more😅 I was so annoyed trying to post this because Instagram insisted there was audio on my video, even though there wasn’t and tried everything for like an hour to confirm the ‘sound’ was muted, but it still was saying the music conflicted with the audio I already had. 🙃 So please pretend you can hear September by earth wind and fire while scrolling through this post 😭

Our back to school was delayed by a solar farm battery fire and we are currently on day three of the first day of school being pushed back and no work😅 trying to work a little from home while being asked for my 10,000th snack of the day - pls send prayers and book recs🥲😇

Another August for the books (see what I did there 😝)

As someone working 9-5 everyday, I tried so hard to fill in as much time with my kids as I could this month. I also squeezed in some time with the galpals too💖💖Both kids will be in school this year and I’m not sure how they’re old enough for that but my mama heart isn’t ready 🥲

Only a couple of books this month (shocker) but they were SO good!!! September is one of my favorite cozy times to read and I have a few in the lineup I’m hoping to get in, so stay tuned!!

Summertime is pretty magical on Prince Edward Island and I am always a little sad this time of year to see it start to fade, but we still have some beach time left so I’m hoping I can get a few more evening sunsets in before it ends!! Do you have anything you still want to do before summer is OVER over??

Reading anything lately you want to rave about?? Lay it on me!!!

Back to school is next week here for us and my kids are so ready to be back in the swing of things! I hope wherever you are if you have kiddos off to school that they have an amazing year!!! Enjoy the last few weeks of summer friends, I know I will!!💖💖

Broken country by Clare Leslie Hall 🐑🌾🚜❤️

This book was honestly all over the place, and I don’t mean that in a negative way. As I started off it jumped a little quickly between three timelines, so right away I’m confused because I’m trying to absorb the story while also having three different time frames to follow and it almost made me a tad anxious in a way because I was like WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN lol and I just wanted the answers so quick but I still had literally the whole book to go.

As it progressed it sucked you in pretty quickly and ripped your heart out right after. This was a story of multiple love stories, and all of them are tragic in their own ways, and all of the are also beautiful in their own ways. I also think this is one of the only books where I didn’t dislike anyone (other than Jimmy and Tessa - without giving spoilers, let’s just say they were selfish in different ways) but for the most part my heart broke repeatedly, a few times I got teary eyed and the very end had me crying pretty good. Miscommunication is my least favorite trope and there’s definitely lots of that in here, so for that reason I rate this a solid four stars - borderline 4.5, but this book was really really good and the plot twist at the end I kindaaaa saw coming but still had me dropping my jaw. I don’t know why it took me so long to get around to reading it, so don’t be like me and leave it a long time before you read this book!!!
