We are pleased to announce that our series “Driver Radio: Jamaica” has made it’s broadcast debut!

Episode One “Town Ah Yaad” is airing as a buddy short to the documentary feature “The Picture Taker”, the story of Ernest Withers, a civil rights photographer turned FBI informant. Make sure to look out for it on your local @thirteenwnet or @PBS stations (the rest of our series is available online @funwithronordon)!

Massive love and respect to our real heroes – the colorful and diverse Drivers, as well as the local Jamaican crew, who helped give this one of a kind taxi-travel series its charm.

On behalf of our team, we are very honored to share our humble story on broadcast television. Jamaica is a real place, and we are thankful for the opportunity to tell a fraction of its abundant stories 🚕🇯🇲💪🏾

So here it is! Our often imitated, never duplicated taxi loving series!

‘All Routes Lead Home’ in Jamaica. At least that’s what I’m beginning to recognize as I re-navigating my heritage. It’s such an honor to share stories in contribution to the diaspora. I’m delightfully obligated to express my pride in the culture that has raised me 'off the island' while certainly influence my frequent return.

While writing the story for @bobmarley’s ‘No Woman No Cry,’ I thought of my family and what life could have been. The clip above timelessly represents the women in my life, as well as the resilience of Jamaican people worldwide. I’m humbled to have played a part, and to be able to record this film as my very first @vimeo #staffpick. A highlight in my career that I will not soon forget!

While I remain excited in this moment, what comes next is even bigger! It’s uniquely significant and important to share. This will be the furthest I’ve reached in delivering such personal and relevant work through my passion for filmmaking. It’s for culture and all aspects of being first generation. My hope is that it will represent an experience for anyone out to rediscover more of their own identity.

Introducing ‘Driver Radio: Jamaica’ - True stories with twin brothers Ron and Don Brodie road-tripping across Jamaica. With the help of local taxi and driving professionals, they’re out to rediscover heritage and culture.

Follow @funwithronordon for BTS, original stories, and lots lots more. We’ll be announcing the series airdate on September 7th, right here on #Instagram!

Tell a friend, stay tuned, and more #sooncome!’

Jamaica is a real place, built on self-reliance and dignity worth restoring.

She’s always been a body within my body. I know, I just know for sure that I’m not the only one who believes that “if she good, we good.” Right?

As the media coverage fades, my heartache grows for all that’s been lost. In the storm’s aftermath, I fear her cry will drift into the shadows of an algorithm, or worse, be rebuilt only around its coasts. We can’t forget how much this tiny place has given to the world. I won’t quit until her dignity is restored.

Jamaica is a real place, with resilience and real systems.

The road to rebuilding may be a long one, but Jamaicans are some of the most innovative people on earth.

On October 28th, Hurricane Melissa struck the western side of Jamaica as a Category 5 storm. I can only begin to imagine what certain remote communities look like. Having seen a few firsthand, many are self-sustaining and remarkably self-sufficient. Still, I don’t want to gloss over the challenges that lie ahead. True, it’s a small place, but so many around the world take notice. Jamaicans are ultimately tougher than one might expect. There is no doubt that we will rebuild and that Jamaica will once again be NICE for all who live, work, and come to visit!

Jamaica is a real place, and more than just rum and beaches.

My loved ones and ancestors are buried up in the hills deep within the valleys, and scattered across seas.

On social media, Hurricane Melissa may have changed its appearance, but the facts above shall always remain.

Jamaica is a real place, with all kinds of real people.

I’m not quite sure what to say about Hurricane Melissa, but I’m thinking about family, friends, everyone.

I have yet to hear from Villa, but this was the first thing I thought to share.

Stay safe from the storm. 🇯🇲🤞🏾❤️ by @ronbrodie

With a strike, unexpected loss, and unfathomed responsibilities, 2023 got the best of me. I took a break to prioritize intentional and in-person experiences (big up the friends that checked in on me). Finally, I’m sharing the results of a vibrant and scrappy mashup of business meets creativity + culture fostered during the best of last year. Thinking of family & friends all Easter long 🐣🤍❤️✨

Red Stripe Rum for @redstripeusa + Maad Easter eggs 😉. Maximum respect to family and crew (I know I kept you waiting). This one is dedicated to my brilliant and beautiful sister @kareneb4 🤍🕊️
