Still feels surreal that this @ixdaoslo event happened at all, given that when we planned it; Americans weren't allowed in Norway 🇳🇴

Luckily, we managed to plot it for the only week where it was possible for me to fly in & just before omicron shut everything down again.

It'd been 2.5 years since I did an in-person talk somewhere outside of the US, so I'm especially grateful to the entire IxDA Oslo team and @movito for bringing the whole thing to life.

2026 season in the books. 2nd in the State for the 9th time in program history and our best state finish as a team in 4 years sending 7 players to state including Sanaya & Addison with a run to the consolation final & Elie and Meret ending their senior year with an EPIC Districts to make it to State.

Jiya & Amanda repeated as the 2026 OSAA 4A/3A/2A/1A Girls State Doubles champions, cementing their status as program legends.

Amanda is the winningest girls doubles player in the 57-year history of the program. Only 4 people have won 3+ state titles at Catlin, she's now one of them Jiya joins an exclusive club of multiple state champs in CG, becoming the 4th girl to win 2+ state titles.
Ria, our 9th grade singles phenom showed composure, court intelligence, team leadership and skill beyond her years. She's only the 8th girl in program history to end her season in the state singles final.

We had a lot of hope coming into this year, we knew we had a hungry group of 9th graders to pair with the core we've been building; but we had no idea how it'd work, but despite our youth everyone leveled up from the first practice to our last one this morning.

The result:
14 regular season match wins, District & League Champions and the aforementioned State accolades.

We'll remember this senior class for a long time. Not just for their on the court leadership, but for their resilience, their kindess, tenacity & for the culture they grew and will live on past their time on the team. They for sure kept me coaching more years than I originally intended to.

Coach Emily has given us three awesome years as an assistant coach bringing deft tennis skills, wise words at the right time & raising the bar for everyone with kindness and care. Coach Lorena was a gem for our JV team in her first season; we're truly grateful for her energy.

The future is bright, but the 2026 season will leave its enduring mark for its surprises, successes and how it'll shape us.

P.S. Shout out to @cgs_boys_tennis for finishing 2nd in the state, with Zareh becoming our first boys state singles champ in 11 years, and Kai for battling him the boys state final! by @ronbronson

Nobody tells you getting older is reminding your parents of the cool things they used to do because it was just a Tuesday & they didn't think anything of it and how it like totally was memorable to YOU days, weeks or years later.

Glad for the chance.
