With a full heart, immense gratitude, and curiosity about what is next to come, Tailbone is officially closing its digital doors for orders in 2026. ❤️🔥🚪

It’s been an amazing five years of being creative, playful, tender, and orgasmic together. Now this chapter has come to an end, and it’s time to create space for new projects and collaborations. 💦⚡🍬

The first mushy thank you goes to our incredible customers. Over the years, you have opened up your hearts (and holes) to us, sharing what makes you tick and what gives you the ick. You’ve braved new territories of pleasure and self-expression, brought your partners and chosen/families along the ride, devoured books and buttplugs, tried on binders and strap-ons, came for tea and tarot readings, and made Tailbone into a warm and collaborative space for everyone. It’s been an honour to be a part of your journeys. 🫂 🎽 🍆

Next, the wonderful folks who worked and interned at the shop throughout the years, packing orders, color organising books, working pop-up stands, and taking cute polaroids - you will always be a part of us.

If Tailbone has made a positive impact on you, we would love to hear from you, in our comments/DMS/Email <3. If you have questions or mushy goodbyes, our emails are still open. If you have outstanding giftcards, you can redeem them manually by placing an order via email until April 30th. We will keep the website active without checkout functions indefinitely as we assemble an archive of the projects we completed over the years, and links to places you can keep buying some of your favourite products.

And who knows - maybe one of you reading this might open Rotterdam’s next Queer sex shop… 🔮 🌱📫

This Saturday, June 8, catch us at the @queer_gym for a community care event focusing on s📧xual health. @ronizaftig will lead a creative ✏️ workshop about finding and communicating our emotional safety needs in intimate relations 💝. One of the many fun aspects of running a spicy shop is traveling to trade shows where companies put their latest and bestest 🍑🍆🔨 on display.

We get inspired to add new offerings to our collection and have an opportunity to meet the folks behind our favourite brands and shops.

📦 Exciting updates - we are moving to a larger showroom in our building 🎉.

This will allow us to have a dedicated space for binder/tucking underwear fittings that is also teenage friendly. 🎽

Because of this, please expect delays in orders between until January 15th. 🙏

🎥 Tonight we are hosting a special screening of the cult classic movie ‘Shortbus’, directed by John Cameron Mitchell (2006).

The screening will take place at LantarenVenster at 19:15 as part of Queer Cinema Rotterdam, a series of community movie nights programmed by Esmée in collaboration with local Queer organisations.

We picked the movie Shortbus because, even though it’s been almost two decades after its release, it remains singular in its exploration of intimacy and sexuality. Touching topics that are both widespread and niche, it is as serious as it is full of humor. Something beautiful about this movie is that it was also created in collaboration with the actors.

I personally love how it bridges the world between what we consider normative and non normative desires and relationships, and treats them both with importance. Whether you consider yourself a prude or a pervert, I feel this film illustrates how the desire to feel belonging through our intimate relationship is a universal struggle.

We’re so happy to announce we found a new studio. A space to work from, host workshops, and use as a showroom. This is a huge step! 🪴

For the past 2.5 years, I (Roni) have been operating Tailbone from my home. If you got to visit our tiny room there, count yourself lucky.

But before we can open our doors to you, we need to cocoon and transform. Transitions bring on unexpected challenges and emotions. One day you are giddy with anticipation, and the next you find yourself surrounded by cardboard boxes, thinking, what the hell am I doing? 📦

Whenever I take a big step in my life, my inner critic gets louder to try to protect me. Saying, are you sure? maybe you aren’t ready, maybe this is a mistake. 💭Nowadays, I recognize this and try to reassure myself with compassion - that it’s OK if this doesn’t work, and that I will make mistakes.

There is a reason we display your photos in our office It's because running a business is hard, and some days I’d rather disappear than answer emails. 🛌But your photos remind me that Tailbone is not just about cute dild0s, it is about supporting your personal transformations. Honoring your courage to try new things 💪🏾; to fall in love or experience heartbreak; to question your gender or come out; to try new structures of love; to heal trauma and years of cultural conditioning.

There was a moment last week when I was standing in front of our new half-painted storage unit, frustrated that I couldn't ship your orders on time, or open our doors sooner. ⏰As if I’ve forgotten that paint takes time to dry, that my arms ache from moving, or that I am also balancing big changes in my personal life. It took crying on a friend’s shoulder in the middle of the street to realize I was rushing a process that couldn’t be rushed. I had to be present, and trust that good things are waiting on the other side.

🙏 I am incredibly humbled by the community of friends, lovers, colleagues, and customers who have lent a hand during of this transition (see comments). Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We look forward to welcoming you to our new space. Here’s to growing and transforming together. by @ronizaftig

We love zines! 💕 We have a cute stall at this year’s @zinecamp at @worm_rotterdam this weekend November 5-6, a free two day festival celebrating zines and zine making.

We will be bringing some of our favourite independent makers, from a queer erotic writing zine we helped co-create 👅 to a very special tarot deck 🔮.
