Less than 16 weeks until we welcome our baby girl into this world. 🤍

We escaped to Asheville, NC for one final trip with just the two of us, and it was exactly what I needed.

Life is cooking on all cylinders right now. I’m continuing my MBA program, scaling the antique mall, preparing to become a dad, and trying to be present enough to actually take it all in.

I’ve prayed for times like these.

There were seasons of my life when I wasn’t sure I’d ever get to experience some of what I have today. That makes this season hit a little differently.

I’m learning that presence isn’t about slowing life down. Sometimes life isn’t going to slow down. It’s about actually being here for it while it’s happening.

Finding the joy in the middle of the chaos. Appreciating my wife, our growing family, the work, the opportunity and everything it took to get here.

Life is full, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Friends, one of my brothers has been in the hospital battling some significant health issues. I’m asking my UHP homies and alumni, my friends from the veteran advocacy community, and everyone who has crossed paths with José Belén over the years to send up a prayer, shoot him an encouraging message, and believe with us for his recovery.

Sometimes the people who spend so much of their lives being a light for others end up walking through some of their hardest moments in the dark. Jose has been a light to me and to so many people around him.

I know what it feels like to sit alone in a hospital room and wonder if anyone out there really cares. In those moments, your mind can convince you that you’re alone, even when the truth is that there are so many people who love you, care about you, and are standing with you.

Jose, you are not walking through this alone. There are a whole lot of us in your corner.

We fought the urge to keep this private a little longer, but we’re ready to share our miracle.

After more than three years of fertility treatments, countless appointments, tears, setbacks, and moments where hope felt hard to hold onto, we’re incredibly grateful to share that Victoria is 16 weeks pregnant with our baby girl.

It’s still early, but we wanted to share this with our family, friends, and community because your prayers, encouragement, and love have meant more than you’ll ever know.

We also share this for the couple who may be in the middle of the struggle right now. The waiting can be painful. The uncertainty can feel overwhelming. Keep going. Praise God in the valley. Find peace where you are and hold onto hope.

We can’t wait to meet you, baby girl. 💕

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, our team had the honor of standing in Washington D.C. alongside 44 organizations advocating for education, reform, compassion, and the right for people to have options when it comes to healing and wellness.

Together, 2,148 letters were delivered to Congress supporting 13 bills and educating all 541 offices in the House and Senate.

As veterans, this work is deeply personal.

We’ve watched veterans and everyday people struggle in silence while searching for solutions that actually improve quality of life. We’ve also seen people rebuild their lives through community, movement, mindfulness, fitness, spirituality, purpose, connection, and plant medicine.

This week was a reminder that these conversations are growing fast and people across the country are ready for change.

It was powerful standing beside advocates, researchers, nonprofit leaders, medical professionals, students, and community members all united around one belief:
people deserve education, options, and the freedom to make informed decisions about their health and healing.

Huge thank you to @ssdpofficial @decriminalizenow for organizing such an impactful Unity Week and bringing together so many incredible organizations and voices committed to meaningful change.

Balanced Veterans Network is proud to represent veterans nationwide seeking healthier, more balanced lives after service. We believe healing is not one size fits all and that veterans deserve access to education, community, and support without shame or fear.

Huge thank you to @higherground.dc for hosting us in such an incredible space. Every detail of the venue felt intentional, welcoming, and built with love and good energy. You can feel the community the second you walk in, and we’re already looking forward to hosting future events there.

A big thank you to @jack.gorsline and @psychedelicamericas , Joe Moore and @psychedelicstoday @paradise.farmers.market @decrimnaturerva @susieplascencia @lacawatkins , and BVN Government Affairs Coordinator Eric Jansen (@ayahuascaej )for sitting down for some real and meaningful conversations around plant medicine, personal stories, and psychedelic legislation currently moving through Congress.

These conversations matter. Education matters. Advocacy matters. The momentum building around veteran mental health, healing access, and responsible policy reform is something powerful to witness firsthand, and we’re grateful to have a seat at the table as this movement continues to grow.

I stepped back into the nonprofit world because this work matters.

@balancedveterans is not fully funded yet this year, but our team has been boots on the ground all over this country volunteering for months, showing up, walking miles, leaving our families, and fighting for veteran rights because we believe veterans deserve better.

We continue to stand up and share our stories with policymakers, advocates, and leaders across this country. That part is not easy, but for me, it’s not negotiable.

Since 2018, I’ve been on my own self-healing journey. I’ve shared my story a lot over the years, and the hard truth is, it’s not unique. I almost became a statistic myself.

A friend introduced me to cannabis in 2017 and it changed the direction of my life. During and after my military service, I was put on 16 different pharmaceuticals while trying to understand and manage PTSD, combat trauma, and everything that came with it.

For nearly a decade now, I’ve watched thousands of veterans in our community start taking their health and their lives back into their own hands.

Veterans deserve the right to heal in the way that works for them.

There is no one-size-fits-all treatment. Healing takes options. It takes community. It takes accountability. It takes a whole-person approach.

That is why I founded Balanced Veterans Network with my brother @jcmasoner

A safe space.
A real community.
No judgment for how you build balance in your life.

I would rather be judged for using a plant than not be here at all.

I’m grateful for this journey. I’m grateful for the people who helped me along the way. And honestly, I’m more charged up than ever.

Balance is built, not found.

One year no alcohol.

I’ve gone longer before, but this time feels different.

Honestly, I’ve never felt better.

At some point I realized alcohol was just delaying the inevitable. The stress, the emotions, the hard conversations, the accountability. None of it disappeared. It just waited for me while things slowly got worse.

These days I’d rather face my shit head on and get it out of the way instead of numbing it for a few hours.

The biggest thing I’ve learned? Alcohol brought absolutely zero real benefit to my life. Not one.

More clarity.
Better relationships.
Better sleep.
Better energy.
Better mental health.
More discipline.
More presence.

And man, watching so many older veterans slowly destroy themselves inside VFWs and social circles built entirely around drinking honestly woke me up. That is not the way.

There’s nothing weak about getting honest with yourself.
There’s nothing weak about changing.
There’s nothing weak about choosing peace over poison.
