"Director's Letter
Directing Wicked in 2025 is more than revisiting a classic — it’s about reinventing it for a new era.

In a society marked by polarization, prejudice, and hate speech, this work remains both timely and essential — a mirror of reality and a beacon of possibility.

From the very beginning, our mission was to enhance every technical and visual aspect that made Wicked a global theatrical phenomenon. We worked to create a powerful sensory experience: sets, lighting, costumes, makeup, choreography, and projections were all conceived in an integrated way to elevate the story’s magic and narrative strength.

Visually, we drew inspiration from the original Oz book illustrations, especially those by John R. Neill, and translated that imagery into a Victorian-orientalism universe with touches of strangeness and wonder — the very essence of the land of Oz. The result is a production with a unique aesthetic identity, one that honors the original while offering new visual interpretations.

Our cast of 36 artists was selected through a careful lens, prioritizing performers who understand the emotional and symbolic complexity of the piece. Each performance aims to be a singular experience with transformative power for the audience.

I thank Atelier de Cultura and Instituto Artium for trusting this vision and for assembling a brilliant creative team. This show is a gift of life. May Wicked continues to remind us that empathy, courage, and art are forces capable of changing the world.

✨️Another dream come true💃

Today, we had our first rehearsal for @falsestepscomedy, and to be able to bring life to this show with my Direction and Choreography couldnt be more fulfilling - what a great group of artists we have!

For many years, I've been wanting to marry my two big passions: Theater and Ballroom Dancing, and to see this all coming to its feet as the dancing moves the story along is truly magnificent.

Thank you to all who helped us in our journey.

October 4, 2026 marks the closing of Wicked Brazil.

Over two years of intense learning, growth, creation and dedication

It all began with a text from Carlos, and a simple “yes.” Who knew where the journey would take us?

It seemed so crazy and impossible, yet we saw a path full of possibilities. Somehow they believed in me. @baccic and @carlos_a_cavalcanti saw something in me that allowed us to dare.

And we dared. We dared to build a whole new world with the blessings of my friend and mentor, Stephen Schwartz, and Winnie Holzman, whose brilliant work gave us and the world boundless inspiration.

Stepping into the role of director for such a juggernaut comes with the weight of directing not just what happens on stage, but guiding everyone who breathes life into it from its first spark to the final curtain.

Forging those connections and striving to graciously share the vision for our Oz was the most challenging and gratifying experience of my life. Along the way, every single person taught me how to navigate the hardest thing to direct of all: myself.

Day after day, I learned to direct my emotions, my intellect, my intuition, my hopes and dreams, my fears, and my frustrations—striving to be the best version of myself for everyone in the room. Sometimes I aced it; sometimes I didn’t. Such is life. But even in the hardest moments, you were all there for me.

Thank you to everyone who welcomed me into their day and gave me their trust and their ears. To my direct creative partners, @anegallo and @thiagorodrigues.mto; all of our extraordinary creative and technical teams; the management team; my São Paulo cast; my Rio cast; and the fans we met along the way: you will always stay with me, like a handprint on my heart.

And now whatever way this chapter ends, I know you have rewritten mine by giving me purpose and life every single day.

Wicked Brazil closes its run, but its impact on all of us will endure.

We can proudly say we were part of something life-changing and everlasting.

And just like that, six weeks in Rio have come to a close, and my heart is incredibly full.

Directing @wickedbrasil has been the peak of my career and a testament that theatre is so much more than what happens on stage, it is entirely about the people, community and creating with each other..

To Winnie Holzman and my friend and mentor Stephen Schwartz, thank you for trusting me with your beautiful and life changing work - I tried my best to celebrate every moment of your show!

@carlos_a_cavalcanti and @baccic , thank you for this gift. I'm forever grateful to you for the trust and belief in my vision and your tirelessly work to make it real. 🙏🏻❤️

@anegallo and @thiagorodrigues.mto. thanks for helping me steer this big ship during all this time. What a team we are!

To this extraordinary cast and creative team: thank you for your vulnerability, your talent, the fire in the eye and your respect. You have poured so much of your own humanity into this work, and the connections we’ve built over these weeks have been the greatest reward, truly. I hope each of you get just as much as you're giving to the show!

Theatre is, at its core, a testament to the relationships we forge and the stories we share. Leaving is bittersweet, but I am carrying every single moment we shared.

Rio, you have been a beautiful backdrop for this chapter until next time.
