I’ve been many versions of myself…
but this one feels the most aligned 🤍 Mum of 2. Traveller.. Founder of Roots & Play. A woman striving for a more grounded, slow and intentional life. Over the years, one thing has always stayed true, I have a passion to help, to teach and to support in the growth and positive development of our children.
I know that children learn best through real experiences, play and connection… a space where they feel seen, understood, where they feel a sense of belonging, not pressured or overwhelmed. That belief is what led me to create Roots & Play.
An educational cultural brand celebrating Caribbean and African culture through play. 🚨 We have just launched digital activity packs designed to make play-based learning easy, meaningful and culturally rich for families at home. As parents, we already have enough on our plates which is why my resources are low prep and affordable! Inside you’ll find:
✨ printable activity packs
✨ sensory + outdoor play ideas
✨ cultural flashcards ✨ recipes ✨ games ✨ book recommendations ✨ arts and crafts ✨ and so much more Simple tools. Real connection. Everyday cultural learning. If this feels like the kind of support you’ve been looking for… come and join us 🫶 👉 Comment “PLAY” and I’ll send you the details or click the link in bio I can’t wait for you to join the fam! Comment BHM for the link 🔗 You are just wasting time… Yes they will understand more the older they are but children are way more capable than we actually think 💭 Sometimes history comes with heavy themes but like everything else we adapt it and make it age appropriate. Last week my 3 year old randomly started talking about Garrett Morgan and what he created, the black man who invented the traffic light as we know it today. I taught him this months ago through play and tbh hadn’t realised he retained the knowledge. 🚦 The point is, we can wait until we think they are old enough and when they will remember it or we can jump in right now. That’s what the families who have children that know their history are doing whilst you wait.. Start building the foundations.. If you are ready to get started and teach your children about Black British History Comment BHM and I will send you the link to Hidden Heroes: Black British History✨ Launch price until Wednesday 7th October You and your children will meet 10 incredible Black individuals who contributed to British history and whose stories need to be told 🫶🏽✨ #blackhistorymonth #blackbritishhistory #britishblackhistory by @rootsandplay
