Building a business is one thing, building a community around something you truly believe in is another 🤍

Sanchez created @rootsandplay to help parents give their children a stronger connection to their African and Caribbean heritage, creating resources, conversations and a community where families can learn, explore and feel represented.

We love seeing women build businesses that solve real problems and create something bigger than themselves 🎀✨

🖤🧸 Black-owned business spotlight: @rootsandplay 🧸🖤
.
As a parent, I’m always on the lookout for toys and resources that do more than keep little ones entertained.
.
That’s why I was so pleased to discover @rootsandplay.
.
Founded by Sanchez (a mixed heritage mum of two and former educator) Roots & Play was born from a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves to see themselves reflected in the toys they play with and the books they read.
.
Drawing on her experience in education and motherhood, Sanchez has created a thoughtfully curated online store that champions diversity, inclusion and positive representation from an early age.
.
You’ll find everything from:
🥁 Rhythm & Roots Packs that celebrate culture through music and play
🧠 Positive affirmation cards to build confidence and self-belief
❤️ Caribbean and African food flashcards introducing children to the richness of our cuisine and culture
🎁 Thoughtful gifts for babies and children that celebrate diversity from the very beginning
.
Every product has been chosen with one purpose in mind: helping children feel seen, valued and proud of who they are.
.
Representation starts long before the classroom. It starts in our homes, during playtime, story time and those everyday moments that shape how children see themselves… and each other.
.
As a mum of two myself, I know just how important that is.
.
Thank you, Sanchez, for creating a business that’s helping children grow up feeling seen, valued and proud of who they are.
.
Go and show @rootsandplay some love. 🖤🙌🏿
