My mum was a great story teller when we were growing up and she often told us stories about the fluffy coos on the Scottish hillsides.

I named this one Hamish - he seemed quite intrigued whilst munching his grassy stems.

I’m starting a new photography project celebrating women in the maritime industry along Scotland’s North East coastline.

Women make up fewer than 20% of the maritime workforce, but that’s changing, and the women already working in this industry deserve to be seen. Through portraits and personal stories, I want to show the people behind the work and inspire younger generations to connect with their coastal heritage and consider a future within the industry.

Who am I looking for?
Women working in any maritime role, from fishing, harbours and shipping to boat building, rescue, research, offshore, tourism, conservation and beyond. If you have a story to share, I’d love to hear it.

If you know anyone you'd think would be interested, please share this post or tag them below.

Spent the day in Edinburgh yesterday at @scottishwildlifetrust Ocean Literacy Coalition Meeting, discussing all things about what we get up to at @ttptnortheast

I heard so many exciting projects exploring how we develop people's connection to our oceans and heritage.

One thing stood out for me above all else.

Opportunities and collaboration matters to everyone, everyone needs to be given a voice for Ocean Literacy to change the way we talk about our ocean.

I was grateful to share the amazing work that we're doing at Turning the Plastic Tide and encouraging young teens to get involved in their own marine environment outside of the usual classroom set up.

Thanks to Ollie for inviting us down and looking forward to seeing where this coalition takes us!

The United Kingdom is an island country, the RNLI, its volunteers and staff have been helping people in our waters stay safe since 1824.

Recent attention on how the RNLI have been operating in southern parts of the UK has sparked idiotic ideals surrounding anti-immigrant and racist protests and is infecting our screens this week.

This charity has saved countless lives, families and supports incredible communities across the coastline.

To my southern counterparts - know that the rest of the country stands by you and everything you do to support safer seas and saving lives no matter their background, age or gender. by @roseacreate
