For anyone that doesn’t know yet. A few months ago my wife and I gave up our home in Las Vegas and we moved into our Sprinter van! Since then, we have been traveling around the country, and I’ve been doing guest spots at shops all over. Admittedly, it was a bit of a rough start (due to unexpected heat waves and super unexpected Mercedes “mishaps”), but September might just have been our best month yet!

RECAP OF OUR ADVENTURES FOR LAST MONTH:
We got to spend our 2 year wedding anniversary in Yosemite, visiting all our favorite spots, showing Fondue around the park, and we got to hike half dome for the first time!

We then went to Fresno where I got to tattoo for the week @invictusinkfresno and hang with the coolest people!

Then it was off to Monterey California where I got to work @goldcoast1977 for the weekend and meet all kinds of amazing locals and tourists!

Then it was off to Berkeley and San Francisco where I got to tattoo @truelovetattooberkeley and we got to have a few amazing date nights!

Then, we got to explore some coast cities in Northern California and see some amazing sights while we made our way back to Vegas.

For those that don’t know - I live in my van with my wife and my cat, I’m traveling the country full time, and tattooing my way across the states for the next 2 years! I’ve been tattooing in Vegas for the last two decades and I love doing every kind of tattoo, especially bright colors and fun pop culture subjects!

I’ve also given myself the challenge of trying to do a totally new flyer each month that I’m on the road to promote my travels! If you happen to see this I’d love it if you would repost & share it so I can try to reach as many people as possible! This month for my flyer, I thought it would be fun to recreate the classic GTA cover and add a bunch of my favorite recent work.

This month (September), I’ll be guest spotting in Fresno at Invictus Tattoo, 9/8 - 9/12 and in Berkeley at True Love Tattoo, 9/15 - 9/19! If you want to get tattooed or know someone that would like my work send them my way! Stoked to explore some new areas that I’ve never been to and meet some new clients! ❤️

July was my first official month doing van life and it was a bit of a whirlwind. More time than I would like to admit spent in Mercedes garages. But eventually we got our wheels under us and we made the best of every situation.

Day 7 of ??? (it’s looking like about 10ish) of turning this van into our dream camper!

We were getting really crunched for time at this point and had to make some major progress, quickly.

We got the van wrapped(@purpleflarewraps), installed the lights, ran all the wiring for the electricity, and made and installed upper cabinets. All within about a week!

We were really hustling since the deadline to move out of our apartment was approaching so quickly.

Day 6 of ??? of building out our dream camper.

Listen, time jumps happen, ok? lol. Van builds are expensive, the heat in Vegas is unreal, and also- life. For us, we had to base our build schedule on not only when we could do the work, but when we could afford it. And this last push included the most expensive aspects of the build; so we sold our Subaru (which had been the plan all along) and funded the rest of the build with that money.

Installing windows that open was crucial for us. Julia works from the van 4 days a week, so airflow is a must. (We used @vanwindowsdirect ). And then we got into the fun, make it feel like a home, part.

Day 5 of ??? of turning this big van into our dream home on wheels.

In this video we put up some walls, we did the ceiling planks, and we installed an upholstered bed frame!

Every project in this van has felt like a hurry up and wait situation. After this we waited almost two years before we finally finished the rest of the projects… which we did in like 4 months immediately before moving in.

I can’t wait to put together the rest of the videos!! The fun part is about to start!

Day 4 of ??? of the big van build.

In this episode we tackled some of the scariest projects, including cutting a big hole in the top of the van for the vent fan and then screwing solar panels into the roof (circa 2022).

Day 3 of ??? turning this van into our home on wheels!

We may or may not have had some mishaps during this project, but we made the best of it and still got to use the van to go explore!

For future reference: don’t try to use spray foam insulation inside a black van, in the Vegas heat 😂🔥

Day 2 of ??? of me building out my camper van. My son and I did the sub floor (circa summer of 2019).

This was a learning experience for sure. I had a few ideas for how to affix the subfloor to the van, and at the end of the day I decided this was the best plan, as it didn’t require me to drill through the van a million times- which I swear is the scariest thing ever.

And some good news (seeing as it’s a million years later now): I can report back that not a single issue has come from using this method 👍🏾

Basically right after this project I took a two year hiatus on doing anything to the van; Covid = building supplies being too expensive, coupled with some MASSIVE (great) life changes.. But I did eventually get back on it and finish!
