Profits from sales will be donated to a charity of the Anderson family's choice. We will update everyone re the outcome at the end of the year. Massive thanks to the team at Red Hot Summer Tour. Angry Anderson, the Rose Tattoo frontman who spent 50 years as a legend of Australian music and television is being remembered as he was always seen - a little man with a lot of bite.

Born Gary Anderson, Angry turned a painful childhood into hard rock music, and became synonymous with the early Australian pub rock scene with hits including Bad Boy for Love, Rock ‘n’ Roll Outlaw and We Can’t Be Beaten. The release of his first solo track ‘Suddenly’ in 1987, a romantic ballad spawned from wanting to be a good father, showed a vulnerable side to the Angry persona and famously soundtracked the iconic wedding of Scott and Charlene in Neighbours.

This Friday night, rage puts a spotlight on Angry’s lasting career with a tribute that spans across a multitude of decades that perfectly captures his hard rock legacy. We have a GTK live performance of his 70s rock group Buster Brown, featuring AC/DC’s Phil Rudd on drums. A 1985 episode of Countdown hosted by Angry in promoting his role in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, plus live Rose Tattoo Countdown performances. And finally, all the Rose Tattoo music videos we could find in the archive.

Catch the show this Friday night from midnight on ABC, or stream LIVE on iview. by @rosetattooband

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gary “Angry” Anderson on the eve of Monday 21 September 2026, surrounded by his loved ones here in Australia.
Angry was a devoted father, and much-loved member of his friends, bandmates and the wider music and entertainment community. His loss will be deeply felt by all those who knew and loved him both here in Australia and overseas.
The family and band members are asking for privacy at this difficult time and will not be giving interviews. We kindly ask that their wishes are respected as they come to terms with this devastating loss and take time they need to grieve.
We thank everyone for their prays and messages of love and continued support.
With love, The Anderson family and Rose Tattoo Band.
Stay young, grow strong.
