There’s just something irresistibly charming about wagons, caravans and shepherd’s huts of every description, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this one in Kit Kemp’s garden since writing about it in the spring. I’m very jealous of her granddaughter, who has magical sleepovers here. Once upon a time this little Cotswold cottage is said to have inspired the story of Alice in Wonderland… And now it’s home to the director, producer and podcaster @chrissweeney who has playfully reimagined it for family life. Just look at that hidden bar and the ‘princess’ bed in the attic! A real joy to speak to Chris and write about the project earlier this year. What I wouldn’t give to escape the London heatwave for this cool, calm villa on Mallorca. Built in the 1990s, it had been thoroughly blinged up before @moredesign.es came in and worked their magic. A perfect summer story up on @houseandgardenuk now. Photos by @salvalopez taken in Serra de Tramuntana by @rosewashbourn

A few favourite rooms from my final house story of 2025: a converted barn and dovecote in the Cotswolds with beautiful interiors by @violetandgeorge photographed by @peas.in.my.pod taken in Cotswolds by @rosewashbourn

It was such a pleasure to write about this early-20th-century house in Hampstead, which has been cleverly reconfigured by @powelltuckassociates and beautifully decorated by its owners. Throughout the house are works of art, interesting objects and pieces of furniture inherited from their parents, which they have incorporated seamlessly and showcased in such thoughtful ways (a particular highlight being the cabinet of glass bells in the sitting room designed and made for the space). A few favourite rooms from a beautiful London house by @charlottesmiley_interiors shot by @peas.in.my.pod and @butlermadden. Swipe to see the sweetest little miniature room scenes hidden behind the skirting boards (if you read The Borrowers as a child, you will love them as much as me). Such a fun one to write about! by @rosewashbourn

The most perfect setting for beautifully restful interiors by @studiokaya. I loved writing about this Swiss mountain farmhouse decorated by Deniz Bayern for her family. Photos by @horwoodphoto taken in Galgenen by @rosewashbourn

A few favourite images by @mark_anthony_fox from my first house story for @houseandgardenuk. I’ve often walked past this house in Hampstead, but never imagined I’d get to see inside. Such a beautiful building and now with the perfect interiors thanks to a close collaboration between @violetburns and her clients. A joy to visit and to write about. taken in Hampstead by @rosewashbourn
