Lyft is finally in Halifax! 🚗 Getting around the city has gotten so much easier, no more circling for parking or driving around when you’re already done for the day.

Halifax has so much to offer in just 24 hours. We did it all without stressing about getting around and saved so much time, thanks to Lyft! ✨

Seriously, just request a ride with Lyft and enjoy the city, it’s that simple. And if you’re a new user, you can get 50% off your first 5 rides with the code MAPLE50 - max $10/ride (terms apply).

Everything you need to know before visiting the tip of Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula (aka Vinland)👇

Follow @roving.mapletales if you want to know more unique places to visit in Atlantic Canada 🇨🇦🦞

A lil historical fact about the place ⬇️
If you’re wondering, this is the place where the Norse explorer Leif Erikson and his crew sailed from Greenland and set up a camp 1000 years ago, on land that Indigenous people had been living on for a long time before people from Europe arrived. They were the first Europeans to settle in the Americas and they did this almost 500 years before Columbus came to the Americas.

Places to visit during your visit ⬇️
📍L’Anse aux Meadows (the actual encampment site)
📍Norstead Viking Village (a recreated village next door with the Snorri ship)
📍St. Anthony and St. Lunaire-Griquet during iceberg
season
📍Quirpon Island
📍Goose Cove

Activities not to miss ⬇️
📍Dark Tickle zodiac boat tour to see icebergs, Quirpon island, whales, and seabirds
📍Guided tour operated by Parks Canada at the L’Anse aux Meadows Historic Site

Where to eat ⬇️
📍Norseman restaurant (they have the BEST seafood in our opinion)
📍Skipper Hot’s Pub
📍Café Nymphe

If you could do only one hike in Newfoundland, it should be this 😍 Read trail details below👇

Follow @roving.mapletales for more hiking and road trip recommendations in Newfoundland 🇨🇦🫎

📍This is Cobblers Path on the East Coast Trail near Torbay, Newfoundland (15 mins from St. John’s). The full trail is 10 km+, but we did the short 2 km section from Doran’s lane and it honestly felt like walking to the edge of the world.

While there are many stunning hikes in Newfoundland, this one is easily our fav! 😉 (But 👉 1. We have not done the Gros Morne summit hike yet, 2. We’ve only hiked 19 trails in Newfoundland so far, so might change our fav soon 🙃)

↗️ Send this to someone you’d want to hike this breathtaking trail with!

Musquodoboit Valley looked gorgeous yesterday 😍 We spent the evening hiking Gibraltar Rock and the views from the top were beautiful 🍁

We got there just before golden hour and while the light was good, we think it would have been a great sunrise spot and the pictures wouldn’t have ended up hazy 😄

Regardless, it’s one of the most beautiful spots in Nova Scotia for fall colours.

If you haven’t been yet, add it to your list 🍂

A Fall road trip from Halifax that you need to do this long weekend 🍂 Here’s everything you need to know👇

Follow @roving.mapletales if you want to know more Fall activities to do in Nova Scotia 🍁🦞

📍Stop 1: Victoria Park in Truro
Start your morning here. The wooded trails are full of fall colours and it’s such a peaceful spot. Right after, grab a coffee at @stayatseek

📍Stop 2: Fall farms
Pick your favourite fall farm stop. We’ve been to @blakespumpkinjungle and @riverbreezefarm and both are great for the classic fall farm experience with pumpkin U-picks, corn maze and lot of fun activities to do for families.

📍Stop 3: Masstown Market
Don’t skip this one (@masstownmarket). Their bakery is so good and if you see the Atlantic Seafood Pie, get it.

📍Stop 4: Wentworth Valley (The highlight of the trip)
🍁 Wentworth Falls is an easy stop, an almost roadside waterfall and so worth it
🍁 Hike the trails at Ski Wentworth (@skiwentworth)
🍁 Spend some time at Wentworth Provincial Park. Love the red maples in this park 😍

📍Stop 5: Tatamagouche ➡️ Nuttby drive
End your trip here before heading back home via the Trans-Canada Hwy. Love the vibrant colours on this route.

🛖 Stay: Seek Wilderness Accommodations (@stayatseek) if you’re making it an overnight trip 🍂

➡️ Save this for your next road trip in Nova Scotia and send it to whoever you’re going with! 🍁

🗓️ Most of these foliage visuals are from last year (Oct first and second weeks).

Charlottetown in October is so gorgeous! 🍁 Here’s what we got up to👇

🎃 Charlottetown Scarecrow Festival (@charlottetownscarecrowfest) turns the whole city into an open-air art show 😊 Every storefront and corner has a creative scarecrow display, it’s so fun to just walk around and spot them all.

🍸 The Wicked Spirits Cocktail Mix Off is on all October. Local bars serve up spooky limited-edition cocktails as part of the scarecrow festival.

🍂 The fall foliage around downtown is beautiful, especially around the Victorian houses. Victoria Park and Confederation Landing Park are easy walks right in the city.

🥾 If you want to get into the trails 👉 Fullerton’s Creek Conservation Park is just 10 mins away and part of the Island Walk (@theislandwalk), and Strathgartney Provincial Park and Bonshaw Hills are about 30 mins out and absolutely worth the drive.

🦪 Fresh PEI oysters are a must-try, you’ll find them across the city and they never miss.

🌽 Farm Day in the City (@farmdayinthecity) wrapped up for this year but watch for fall markets popping up around the city through October (it’s on Oct 3, 2027 next year!).

➡️ Send this to the person you’d love to explore Charlottetown this Fall with! 🧡

Everything you need to know about the highest peak in the Maritimes👇

🌿 Mt Carleton Provincial Park sits on the unceded ancestral territory of the Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) people. We are grateful to visit and explore this land 🧡

Follow @roving.mapletales if you want to know more unique places to visit across Atlantic Canada 🇨🇦🦞

📍This is Mt Carleton Provincial Park in New Brunswick and it exceeded every expectation we had ❤️

The facilities and upkeep are 10/10, honestly the best park we’ve been to in Atlantic Canada so far.

🚘 The drive is 6 hours from Halifax and 4 hours from Moncton
💲 There’s an entry fee if you’re just visiting for the day
🛖 There are 2 cabin campsites (Nictau and Bathurst). We stayed at the Bathurst cabins beside Bathurst Lake that was the only one available, and we highly recommend it. If you can secure the Nictau cabins, even better as they have a kitchen and washroom inside the cabin (Bathurst has shared washrooms outside)
🏕️ There are also 3 other campsites if you’re pitching tents
🗓️ Book months ahead when @parcsnbparks opens reservations for summer. The park is open until Oct 31st
☕️ Definitely check out the cozy lodge café inside the park, it has the best views of Nictau Lake

🌲 Trails we recommend 👇
Mt Carleton (the highest peak)
Williams Falls
Pine Point Loop
👉 Most people do the 3 peaks challenge - Mt Sagamook, Mt Head and Mt Carleton

🌠 The park is a designated dark sky preserve, so it’s unreal on a clear night

🪵 Firewood is available at the campsites for campfire, and the cabin has a wood stove to keep you warm

⚠️ Some trailheads are rugged so AWD is recommended

New Brunswick is gorgeous in the fall especially the Northern region which peaks earlier 🍁

Don’t miss these locations if you’re visiting NB during Fall ⬇️
📍French Fort Cove
📍Morrissey Rock Park
📍Miscou Island
📍Irishtown Nature Park
📍Pabineau Falls
📍Jacquet River Gorge
📍Fundy Trail Parkway

We’ve also been to Mill Creek Nature Park, Centennial Park, Mapleton Park, Fundy National Park, Sugarloaf Provincial Park and Campbellton in the fall and they’re all amazing too! 🍂

🗓️ Northern NB peaks earlier and we timed it around the first week of Oct and the Fundy Coast around the second week.

We loved exploring the South Coast of Newfoundland and can’t wait to go back ❤️

Follow @roving.mapletales if you want to know more hidden gems to visit in Atlantic Canada 🇨🇦🦞

A lil fact about the place ⬇️
Rencontre East is one of the most isolated communities in Newfoundland with a population of just 115 people. There are no paved roads, no cars allowed on the ferry, and the nearest hospital is a 90-min boat ride away. Their motto says it all - “Isolated and Loving It”

How to get there ⬇️
⛴️ Take a ferry from Bay L’Argent - it runs daily except Wednesday, and it’s the only way in and out. You cannot take your car on the ferry. Once you’re there, get around by ATV or just explore by walk.

⚠️ We did a day trip from Bay L’Argent to Rencontre East. Day trips are only possible on Sunday, Tuesday and Friday until Oct 15th and the ferry schedule changes after that. So check the latest schedule before you plan your visit.

Things to do ⬇️
📍Boat tour on Rencontre Lake with a local operator ($50 per person)
📍Hike the boardwalk trail to Rencontre Lake 👉download @alltrails map for the route
📍Visit the abandoned molybdenum mine site on the lake (during your boat tour)
📍Explore the community (cafe, grocery store, colourful dock)
📍Hike the Dowding’s Pond Boardwalk Trail

Where to eat ⬇️
📍Baby Moo’s cafe (the only cafe in town)
📍DD’s Takeout

➡️ Send this to someone you’d want to explore Rencontre East with, and follow us for more content like this!

‼️ There’s no/limited cell reception in the area, so download your maps before you visit. We almost got lost during the hike 😬 everything looked the same with no paved paths to guide you lol. We somehow made it back to town on pure memory, just in time to catch our ferry 🤭
