We are the very serious, very secret: Governor George Grey Appreciation Secret Society (GGGASS) We are scared that the left party is rising, and our right-wing leaders lack the pizazz to do anything about it. So we asked ourselves: Who can help? An old white guy? Then we thought… How about a dead white guy? Don’t know who Governor George Grey is? He was the third Governor of New Zealand, and a highly accomplished coloniser. He was instrumental in the suppression of Māori resistance and the Crown’s acquisition and confiscation of huge amounts of Māori land. Basically, a man with a proven track record in making colonialism happen. And frankly, those skills would be really bloody useful right now! What else do you know about this terrible— we mean wonderful— historical figure? Please share your favourite George Grey facts below. We might need them for a resurrection.
