How We Pick Our Top Dog
Honestly… how could we ever choose?
Every Alta Plaza pup is adorable, special, and completely prize-worthy. 💛🐾
So instead of trying to judge cuteness (impossible!), we keep it simple:
Each month’s winner is chosen by raffle from all entries
Runner-ups automatically roll over into next month’s raffle
The more dogs who join, the more fun (and cuteness!) for our whole park community
Our hope is that this brings the Alta Plaza dog community even closer together — so be sure to say hi when you see each other in the park! 🐶🌿
What We Love to Celebrate in Every Entry
Even though the winner is chosen by raffle, we still enjoy highlighting what makes each dog special:
Personality Capture
How well the photo and fun fact show your dog’s unique personality.
Story Appeal
The creativity, charm, or humor of their fun fact, best quality, or worst habit.
Prize
One winner each month receives a $25 Rowdy & Archie gift certificate and will be featured:
On the Alta Plaza Park Instagram
Friends of Alta Plaza website
Friends of Alta Plaza newsletter
In press materials
On Rowdy & Archie Instagram

Were you a previous customer of Pet Food Express that had to pivot when their California Street location shut down? Instead of paying high shipping fees, why not take a nice stroll down Sacramento Street to shop at Rowdy & Archie! 🐶

Curious about the story behind "Rowdy" and "Archie"? 👀 Read what Kalied shared with us → blog link in bio.

Gaston

🐾 Meet Gaston, our August Dog of the Month!

How did August slip away from us? If you’ve spent time at Alta Plaza Park, chances are you’ve seen Gaston. This social butterfly loves playing with everyone, makes three trips to the park every day, and is impossible to miss with his fabulous David Bowie haircut. ✨

He’s also a neighborhood rescue, adopted from Pets Unlimited back when it was right here in the neighborhood. 💚

His only problem? Every blade of grass on his walk needs to be thoroughly inspected. 🌱😂

Special thanks to our dog of the month partner @rowdyandarchie for generously providing gift certificates to our monthly winners!

Congratulations, Gaston! We’re so happy to celebrate this sweet guy and beloved member of the Alta Plaza community. 🐶

🐾 MEET SOPHIE, OUR DOG OF THE MONTH! 🐾

Sophie is an Alta Plaza regular with her priorities firmly in order:

🧈 Favorite food: Butter. (Excellent choice.)
🌳 Favorite pastime: Chewing on sticks
😎 Personality: So. Very. Chill.

Sophie was adopted from a rescue in Los Angeles eight years ago and has been living the good life ever since. These days, she can often be found enjoying Alta Plaza Park—taking in the scenery, finding the perfect stick and generally not getting too worked up about anything.

As always, thank you @rowdyandarchie for your generous support of Alta Plaza’sDog of the Month, celebrating our robust dog community!

Congratulations, Sophie! 💚🐶

🐾 Meet Tyson, our July Dog of the Month!

At 11 years young, Tyson continues to charm everyone around him with his calm personality and one-of-a-kind quirks. From sitting like a cat while he eats to happily rolling in the grass, he’s proof that age only adds to the character. 💚

Thanks to @rowdyandarchie for their generous support of our DOM program.

Congratulations, Tyson! 🐶

🐾 Meet Franklin, our June Dog of the Month—yes we are behind!

This year-old Bernadoodle is smart, easy to train, and always ready to learn. In fact, Franklin was training to become a therapy dog when he was nominated. 💙

His one little weakness? Stealing socks whenever he gets the chance! 🧦😅

Congratulations, Franklin! We’re so happy to celebrate this clever pup. 💚
