I’ve never expected a singer / songwriter to make a painting about their song. Yet for reason, I keep finding myself writing about my art.😉

This did not really come from me. But through me. Grateful to be the vessel.
The story of how these two magical walls in Cabo came to be will forever be sacred to me.

Commissioned to create 250 square feet of lime plaster wall art.
I arrived in Mexico not knowing for certain what to do. So I went to the water to pray. Trusting through the silence and stillness that I would find a knowing.

Then in an instant it came to me. Like time stopped and a 5 minute explanation exploded in my vision in a split second.

The power and beauty of this earth told me.

The patterns in the sand infront of me. Flames. Fire. Hair. The Godess of love and compassion - Quan Yin depicted as a mermaid.
And these favorite words from my childhood.

“The day will come when, after harnessing space, the winds, the tides, and gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, we shall have discovered fire”
-Teilhard De Chardin

It has been my honor to bless this family with the spirit of Love. With Beauty - the language of the Divine.

During the making of this art - My tears ran freely many times with this spirit of love. In awe and gratitude.
Many months of working in a trance when time stopped for me. 24hrs felt like 2hrs. Sleeping on the floor right in front of my art so I could wake when I was compelled to paint.
The final night not realizing I had been carving and chipping and chiseling and painting for 24hrs straight. Finishing the final brush stroke as the sun rose pink and red and gold - light filling the room and washing the Godess of love with the light of fire. It was magical and mystical.
Thank you God.

Easter 2025. Life is beautiful. I’ll wrangle a family picture in May. ✨ by @rowenabright

The bulldogs were the underdogs! Today might have been one of the most amazing sports moments I’ve ever witnessed. Not even kidding. 😂 Watching Rob be a clutch coach and Thor and the boys rise under pressure! They’ve all been working so hard and they lived a Disney movie today 😂So happy I caught the celebrations for the journal. I love football @provovolleyball

End of the game was insane. We were down by 8 and driving with 4 minutes to go. QB throws and interception at the 1 yard line. We then get a safety. Down by 6. They kick it off and we drive down and score to go up by one with a minute left. They drive down to the 4 yard line and we hold them on 3 straight downs. Off to the championship. by @rowenabright

A Facebook market place win! A bit of ski history. And the most beautiful elk tip earrings hand made by @christybarton1. Reach out to her and she will make you a pair!

Billy Kidd won the USA’s first Men’s Alpine Olympic medal in
1964. He was known for skiing in a cowboy hat and he helped establish the famous Cowboy Downhill in 1974, bringing professional rodeo cowboys onto the ski slopes. @stetsonusa made him a pro model hat! Shout out to Billy - he is 83 and I’ve heard still going strong and skiing around

My best friends @doctor.masi & @doctor.aprilm created what we’ve all been wanting and talking about for years. Introducing @teamnorthperformance - 52 clinically studied active ingredients across all seven performance domains.. Built to keep your body performing at its best, for longer. My husband @robhyldahl_phd is the scientific advisor and I’ve been testing it for the last 4 months and I think I’m North’s biggest fan.
North has some incredible athletes as partners backing the product. But they’re just like us. You don’t have to be an athlete to want to feel and perform your best. I’m just trying to build some stone walls and plant some bushes and make some art and raise 3 boys . And I need to be my best. Go read more on the website. northperformance.com by @rowenabright

Rather than fleeing a winter storm, Buffalo sometimes turn to face it, lower their heads, and stand their ground.

Courage isn’t the absence of a storm. It’s the willingness to face it. And in proportion to our courage - our lives shrink or expand.

The story of the American Bison is one of the most powerful, haunting, and tragic stories of the American West.

Once numbering about 30–60 million, these magnificent animals sustained entire civilizations.

They once roamed the very valley where I now live.

Imagine enormous herds stretching toward the horizon. The sound of thousands of hooves. The ground trembling.

By the late 1800s, following decades of relentless slaughter and westward expansion, fewer than 1,000 remained.
Their destruction was not simply the result of hunting. It was also used as a deliberate means of dispossessing Indigenous peoples.

Destroying the Buffalo meant weakening the nations that depended upon them, forcing communities from their lands and onto reservations.

The U.S. Army supported commercial buffalo hunters in some circumstances, recognizing the devastating consequences for Indigenous nations.

By 1902, they were almost erased from the earth. Just 23 wild Buffalo remained in Yellowstone National Park.

Through conservation efforts, protection, and Indigenous stewardship, the Buffalo was saved from extinction.

Today, hundreds of thousands of bison exist across North America, and Indigenous nations are helping restore them to Tribal lands.

For many Indigenous nations, the buffalo is sacred. Their traditions recognize the profound connection between the animal, the land, and all living things.

The buffalo sustained their people, just as it nourished the earth beneath its feet.

A sacred circle of life, provision, gratitude, and renewal.

The story of the buffalo isn’t just about surviving hardship.

It’s about the possibility of renewal and restoration after devastating destruction and loss.

May this painting remind us to:

Face the storm.
Endure.
Restore.
Rise again.

Using only materials from the earth itself — lime, minerals, and pigments.

The storm clouds powerfully brewing, rising and swelling with energy.

To me, the display of nature — sunrises, sunsets, storm clouds, lightening and rolling thunder — is one enormous celebration.

An orchestra and a rock concert combined.

Creation doing its thing.

The greatest show on earth.

It awakes my soul.

I’ve layered, sculpted, and etched this song.

“The mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”

“THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER”

Artist Statement:

A Painting from my roots. The legendary “man from snowy river“ going down the treacherous descent.

I was raised on a sheep farm in the Snowy Mountains - Australia.

I’ve lived in Utah for 24 years and every day someone asks where I’m from, I say.. “have you watched the movie “ The Man From Snowy River” - that’s where I’m from. That’s what it looks like.”

When I watch the movie it’s nostalgic - the landscape takes me back to my childhood and the horse culture that inspired Banjo Paterson’s poetry and the movie. I cry every time I watch it.

As a kid, I’d go looking for wild bush horses- in the Australian high country. The Brumbies. They seemed mysterious and magical to me and I’ve been obsessed with them ever since.

Some lines from “The Man from Snowy River” a poem by Banjo Patterson that were inspired by the horsemen of the late 1800’s in my area.

“There was movement at the station, for the word had passed around
That the colt from Old Regret had got away,
And had joined the wild bush horses - he was worth a thousand pound,
So all the cracks had gathered to the fray.
All the tried and noted riders from the stations near and far
Had mustered at the homestead overnight,
For the bushmen love hard riding where the wild bush horses are,
And the stock-horse snuffs the battle with delight.
…
He hails from Snowy River, up by Kosciusko’s side,
Where the hills are twice as steep and twice as rough,
Where a horse’s hoofs strike firelight from the flint stones every stride,
…
I have seen full many horsemen since I first commenced to roam,
But nowhere yet such horsemen have I seen.
…
He sent the flint-stones flying, but the pony kept his feet,
He cleared the fallen timbers in his stride,
And the man from Snowy River never shifted in his seat —
It was grand to see that mountain horseman ride.
Through the stringy barks and saplings, on the rough and broken ground,
Down the hillside at a racing pace he went;
And he never drew the bridle till he landed safe and sound,
At the bottom of that terrible descent.”
