❤️All done! ❤️

Love has led me to the completion of this painting! While making this I realized how it represents not only the popular bite sized notion of love that we all know but the deeper, expansive love that consumes us until we realize the ultimate boundaries between us all are only imagined.

Ahhhhhh!

“Go To Town” 24”x24” acrylic paint and pen on wood panel!

I made this for the @factoryobscura ‘s V-Bash this Valentine’s Day from 8-10pm. Are you going?!💕

This painting was inspired by a photo of Yayoi Kusama as a girl, posing with big, gorgeous dahlias from her family’s flower farm.

➡️➡️➡️slide to see the incredible photo

The photo haunts me because of the desperate look on young Kusama’s face which belies the beauty she’s surrounded by.

Kusama died this week and I just so happen to be showing this piece tonight along side many more of my paintings and many other amazing artists. Im happy I get to honor her tonight❤️

12 Rooms: To Dream

tonight from 5-8

See you there!

“Women’s Work” continues: TH 6-8 + FR 5-8 + SA 12-5 PLUS Artist Talk 3pm, SAT!

MEET WOMEN’S WORK ARTIST ROXXANN MURPHY: I am heavily inspired by patterns in nature and my vivid dream life. I primarily use acrylic paint pens to make paintings with fluid lines, high contrast, and vibrant colors. @roxxannmurphy

Ro Your Boat was inspired by a photo of my daughter, Romy, and I. Becoming her mother opened up my understanding of the infinite source of creativity.

When she was born I was prepared to devote all my creativity to her. Keeping my own creative practice alive felt selfish, as if creation were a finite resource. Ro was my masterpiece and anything I made outside of her life was self indulgent.

But as my infant became a toddler I found myself constantly tapping my own creativity to solve her infant problems. As she grew we began creating things together. Eventually, Ro began to create on her own. Ultimately, we were working in parallel, each of us on our own but always giving perspective and encouragement to each other.

Working on my own art in her presence helped her come to revere her own creativity as a natural, daily enrichment of her life.

Far from a selfish act, art begets art.

Not a lot of colors, but a lot on angles 📐

Getting back in the habit and reminding my hand what it takes to make a tight line.
