We’re Rachael, Laura and Roxy, raising funds for our dear friend and sister, Maddie Hayman-Reber.

Maddie is a proud 33 year old Gomeroi woman who was born with a hole in her heart, which went undetected until she was 18, and developed into a condition called Eisenmenger Syndrome.

Earlier this year she was told by her cardiologist it is time for a heart-lung transplant - her only option to survive. Recently Maddie’s health has declined and she’s unable to walk far without losing her breath. Once she’s listed (hopefully very soon!), it could take weeks, months or years for the transplant. We’re raising money for Maddie to support her before, during and after this life-saving procedure.

Many of you will know Maddie as a friend, family member or colleague; others may have encountered her through her powerful Blak journalism, seen her at rallies for Blak rights, or read her informed and spicy hot-takes on one of her many social media channels.

In every aspect of her life, Maddie is someone who shows up and speaks up: at rallies for mob, at community events, in solidarity with Palestine and for friends in need. Now we’re asking you to show up for her.

Donations will cover transport, food, rent, bills, family visits during recovery, health costs and other unexpected costs.

Please donate (link in bio and below), follow and share our remarkable friend’s story on insta @madeline.hr + TikTok @maddlepop

There aren’t words for how special @transmobretreat was. I know I am forever changed and stronger because of this beautiful time, thank you to Estelle and Madi for creating this experience for us.

On Yuin country we were welcomed by trans matriarch Aunty Kooncha. Freedom feels like truly being able to be all of yourself with others who see you and care for you, and we experienced this in those clear ocean waters together, and then weaving, fishing, yarning, watching footy, collaging and singing.

So full of love and so proud to have been able to support this retreat 🏳️‍⚧️🌈🖤💛❤️💚💙🖤🤍 by @roxymoore

I feel so honoured and grateful to have been invited out to Masig and Erub as part of the @justfuturescollab team.

Zenadth Kes is magic. The colours of the ocean are something else. Some places just change you… I felt so loved and cared for by the families who hosted us, shared their stories and grief and joy. I felt held by country, and we ate soooo good!

So so beautiful and heartbreaking in equal measure, seeing the real time impacts of climate change. I cried a lot.

Parts of islands washed out to sea. Elders crying seeing coconut trees fallen from erosion. School science displays about ice sheets melting and seas rising. Kids playing on their island home which likely will sink during their lifetime. Sea walls erroneously constructed without local consultation. The huge impact on animals and birds. Cemeteries at risk of washing away.

We witnessed incredible community work to save these island homes. Geofabric to stop erosion. Adapting gardens against strong winds so bananas can continue to grow. Only so much can be done, without the government taking serious action to stop gas, fracking and mining projects. But we can’t stop trying.

This work is so urgent. Torres Strait Islander’s homelands are sinking before their eyes. We need to get behind them as they fight to save their island homes.

Thank you @tishfish__, for everything you do - I will never forget this. 🏝️ by @roxymoore

'Thirty years on and there's still no political will: in fact, there’s a strong desire for the system to stay the way it is, oppressing and killing our people. Mass incarceration is a tool of colonial oppression. What is it going to take to save Blak lives?'

@roxymoore joined our Founding CEO @aprylday_ , @crysymac and @_monique_sarah_ at Progress 2026 (@ausprogress) to reflect on the campaign to decriminalise public drunkenness in Victoria, following the death of Yorta Yorta woman Tanya Day in police custody in 2017.

Alleged terrorist Liam Alexander Hall returns to court tomorrow 16 September, in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court, for the first committal mention. This is about whether the case is ready to be “committed” (transferred) to the Supreme Court - either for hearing or sentencing, depending on what his plea to the charges are.

On January 26, he was charged with terrorism after allegedly throwing a lit homemade bomb at 2500 people. It’s alleged this was a racially motivated attack against Aboriginal people with alleged white nationalist motivations. Media has reported his lawyer said he may enter an “insanity” plea or defence.

We know this is deeply traumatic for our community, please reach out if you need support (see final slide for numbers). by @roxymoore

Thank you to everyone who gathered today to share Gerry Georgatos’ book, Cleveland Dodd: Child of the Desert Sunrise. A beautiful smoking and welcome from Aunty Tina Hayden. Much admiration for @roxymoore for holding everyone so well and to Roxy, Ron Bin Swani from @social.reinvestment.wa and Gerry Georgatos for sharing their knowledge and insights.

Thank you to Cleveland’s mum, Nadene, and his aunty Montana for such a powerful statement.

And thank you to @lanewayartspacebayswater for the last minute hosting, to Tony Zama and @communitycurry for nourishing us with delicious food.

Cleveland Dodd should still be alive. If you don’t know much about him as a person and his life beyond the headline, or if you don’t fully understand just how preventable Cleveland’s death was, or just how terrible prisons in WA are, and how tangible the solutions available to government, then please read Gerry’s book. I think that most of us who can learn something from it. Every dollar from the third edition goes to Cleveland’s family, and we also have many copies of the older editions free to anyone who wants one. by @roxymoore

This Saturday! Updated venue: the Laneway Artspace, 4-6pm.

Join us for the launch of Gerry Georgatos’ book about Cleveland Dodd, a youngfulla who was much loved by his family and community, who loved learning and playing guitar, and who died horrifically after being abused and tortured in adult prison, only 16 years old. This is a deep yarn about justice, ending Black Deaths in Custody and the need to Close Unit 18 immediately.

You’ll hear from Cleveland’s incredible mum Nadene Dodd, advocate @rono_bs and myself, hosted by @rabblebooks.
🖤💛❤️

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Boorloo Walk for Truth today, in solidarity with @travis__lovett completing his 900km walk from Melbourne to Canberra (incredible!!). We are calling for truthtelling nationally, and here on Whadjuk Noongar boodja we are calling for a Truthtelling & Justice Commission in WA. 👣👣👣

We had incredible truthtelling from Aunty Tina Hayden, Uncle Nigel Wilkes, @narelda_jacobs and a statement from Uncle George Walley about the Pinjarra Massacre. We walked in the footsteps of our staunch matriarch Fanny Balbuk Yooreel, a resistance fighter, who challenged colonisers at every turn. ✨

We also heard stories of courage and strength about warriors Midgegooroo and Yagan, and legendary footballer Polly Farmer. We also heard stories of ongoing injustice from @megankrakouer and powerful calls to action.

We were joined by Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Don Punch, by @bradpettittmlc, @sophie_mcneill1 and @davekellymp and many mooditj community members.

Thank you to my Noongar twin flame organiser @rozybynder, and the incredible @narelda_jacobs for mcing, it’s always a joy to work with you my sistas, couldn’t have done it without you. 💜

And thank you to all the amazing volunteers and the SWALSC team!! @chloeeclem @_siennaamarant

Are you joining us on the Boorloo Walk for Truth tomorrow? Be part of a national movement calling for Aboriginal led truthtelling! 💜

The Walk for Truth will be a day of truthtelling, stories of strength and courage, Noongar music and dancing. We will walk in the footsteps of matriarch Fanny Balbuk Yooreel, and hear stories of other warriors like Yagan, Midgergooroo and Polly Farmer. 👣👣👣

Our walk coincides with @travis__lovett finishing 800 km walk for national truthtelling, handing over an open letter to the Prime Minister. Sign it at walkfortruth.com. ✍️

We acknowledge all of the incredible truthtelling done by Noongar mob: from Wadjemup, to Pinjarra massacre, to the return of Yagan to boodja, and so much more. We want to see more truthtelling for healing and justice.

The rain looks like it will hold out until late afternoon (thank you ancestors) but bring wet weather gear just in case.

Meet at The Point, 306 Riverside Drive on the deck near the river at 11am. Welcome to Country starts at 11.15am.

There is a bus leaving from Optus stadium at 10.45am for those going to the Reconciliation Week breakfast.

See you there! All the details at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/boorloo-walk-for-truth-tickets-1990073440231 by @roxymoore
