A landmark exhibition @thebritishmuseum marked the first exhibition of Korean heritage in the UK for over four decades. The treasures on view in Samsung’s 2000 years of Creativity are exceptional and bear fascinating stories. One of those unmissable events that make London the unique cultural hub it is. With the Bayeux Tapestry in a nearby gallery, the museum is having its richest year of activity in recent memory. by @roxzand

So thrilling to discover ‘unbranded’ artists who produce fresh perspectives without the burden of the discourse or market dynamics. Art for its own sake, fabulous to live with (why art was made in the first place!) Wonderful to enjoy.
Thank you @johnmartingallery @johnmartininsta always ahead of the curve, always providing needed platforms.

Sometimes I’ve gone into an exhibition and questioned what I’m doing in the art world. Is it me not getting it, or is the work just not ‘art’. #henrymoore at the currently-parched but still magnificent @kewgardens gave me back my raison d’etre in the art world! From the minute you view these works, see children playing around them, adults in awe, some reflecting while others circumambulate with curiosity, you know that this is what great art is. Inspiring every kind of sentiment - from admiration to playfulness to curiosity. No need for academic captions -the work itself tells you a thousand stories. Just go look at the angles, the texture, the shapes. Sit under a tree and think how lucky we are to have the chance to see the largest retrospective of Moore’s work in one setting. by @roxzand

If art is the spouse, music has to be the most compelling mistress! An extraordinary evening at the recently-inaugurated @steinwayhalluk to launch the @leedspianocompetition 2027, featuring outstanding performances by former participants @keano_ritchie @alimbeisembayev @junyanchenpianist and competition gold medal winner @jaedenizikdzurko , with Sir Stephen Hough the new Artistic Director announcing innovative plans for extending the age eligibility and the programme that can be played. Next year, the most elite piano competition in the world will undoubtedly showcase some phenomenal performances.
Thank you @patricia_maude_roxby_montalto for a special evening
First video is the Lutoslawski arrangement of the Variations on a Theme by Paganini for two pianos; Jaden Izik plays a Rachmaninov Prelude, and introduces the Prize for the best Encore by playing the mother of all Encores! by @roxzand

I weep for the fate of our extraordinary sportsmen, our rich culture and talented people, caught between the war of two regimes. The tragedies are too many to list. by @roxzand

In 2023 I had the privilege of being invited by @mariana_teix.de.carv and @albuquerquefoundation to set up this exceptional institution in Sintra which showcases a unique collection of Chinese Export Porcelain. Having launched to great acclaim in Feb 2025, it was a special pleasure to return there last week with a group of art patrons and collectors brought together by Spirit Now London. The current contemporary exhibition by @grada.kilomba was both moving and thought-provoking: what would we find if we drained our oceans? A moment of silent reflection was followed by lunch in the delightful restaurant and a tour of the shop. The Foundation has fulfilled Mariana’s vision as a destination- a garden of delights which has at its centre a jewel of a collection and a vibrant contemporary space. How lucky I was to be part of the journey. Please visit! by @roxzand

When exactly did we stop decorating ceilings? Did people look up more often than they do now? Walls continue to be treated - albeit in different ways than the ornamented traditions of earlier times - but why are ceilings left a boring white?? Any thoughts?

A wonderful visit to Beister Palace in Sintra told a different story. The place was created by a romantic couple who believed in decorating every nook and cranny in a way that would tell their story by @roxzand

Whenever I feel a bit defeated by the challenges of what’s going on in the world, this 50 year old rhododendron in our garden helps restore me. It’s seen my boys grow up since 1981; been through several droughty summers (one of which felled a segment of it); experienced the near-disappearance of the bees which come for pollination, yet this summer it saw record visitations by the bees again. It’s bloomed and cheered us up during the dazzling summer of Covid lockdowns, and today it’s at its peak once again - just for a few days before it sheds and retreats until the next orbit around the sun. Reminds me that nature is so much bigger than the idiocies we manage to inflict on it and on each other. Today I realised how lucky I am to have lived with this beautiful, living, breathing being year after year. I hope it will grow ancient and sustain pollination well beyond my lifetime by @roxzand

@astaguru launched its London platform tonight to a fabulous crowd of art lovers, bringing the energy and quality the London art scene is best known for. Indian modernist paintings next to European ones remind us of the interconnectedness of art, and that the strength of Indian art and culture is increasingly taking its place on a global level. Thank you @astaguru for including me in this journey, as we invite collectors to further events at our current home in#cromwellplace by @roxzand

On international museum day, I salute the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art where I first started my career in the art world. Designed and at first directed by Kamran Diba, with the support and patronage of Empress Farah Pahlavi, this groundbreaking institution has withstood the test of time and holds to this day an exceptional collection of Western contemporary art - the largest outside of the West.
No stranger to the tribulations that have plagued our capital city, TMOCA has seen a number of evolutions over the years: closed its doors, opened its doors, undergone renovations, used as a gallery, a place of convention, a place of historic shows, a concert hall - many, many scenes have been witnessed there. But throughout it all the people of Tehran have respected its original purpose - a place to celebrate culture and hold on to hope for better times. by @roxzand

Thank you @davidkingreuben @tarazadeh @tarazadeh.agency for a stunning dinner and the opportunity to see David’s new work. First slide is actually an early work but most recent paintings focus on the figurative. David’s plates are whimsical, playful, divine. I thought of slipping one or two into my bag before leaving… by @roxzand
