Building a more inclusive pipeline of historically underrepresented, college and career ready students interested in the film and TV industries.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In summer 2026, recent Roybal graduates completed their 5-week EIF Careers Summer Program Fellowship on the Fox Studio lot.

The five Roybal students were placed at Fox across a variety of offices (On-Air Promos, Fox Entertainment Studios, and Fox Studio Costumes). Over the course of five weeks, students took part in a paid work-based learning experience that included hands-on industry training, exposure to production and post-production departments, and professional development workshops.

As part of their final project, students were tasked with creating their own fellowship recap, showcasing their journey throughout the 5 weeks.

We are appreciative of our studio partners and their commitment to supporting our future filmmakers.

Congratulations to our founder George Clooney for receiving the 51st Chaplin Award at Lincoln Center this week! Not only is Mr. Clooney is an acclaimed actor, director, and producer, his influence on the film industry extends far beyond the screen.

Students and administrators at Roybal and our sister schools @motionpicturenyc @roberthalmisracademy in NY, share how George's vision and commitment to building equitable access into the film and television industry has impacted them.

About the Chaplin Awards

Presented each year at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, the Chaplin Award recognizes an individual’s significant contributions to the art of cinema. The award was named for its first honoree in 1972, Charlie Chaplin, who returned to the U.S. from exile to accept the commendation. Past recipients have included many of the film industry’s most notable talents throughout the decades, including George Clooney, Pedro Almodóvar, Viola Davis, Cate Blanchett, Spike Lee, Meryl Streep, Martin Scorsese, Robert Redford, Morgan Freeman, Sidney Poitier, Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, Bette Davis, Federico Fellini, and Gregory Peck.

A big thank you to our guest speakers so far for the month of October!

Most recently we were incredibly fortunate to have Greg Hemstreet, Senior Vice President of Production Finance at Universal Pictures, educate our Algebra 1 class on the inextricable bond between algebra and accounting. Through real-world accounting examples, script breakdowns from an accountant’s perspective, and mapping the career pathway, students gleaned a newfound appreciation and understanding of the business side of show business.

We also had the great privilege of having @graybayne speak to our English 12 class about crafting impactful and actionable PSA campaigns as they research and develop their own for their unit on social commentary and satire. She provided an invaluable wealth of wisdom on how to chisel away at a rough idea of a PSA until you arrive at a finely sculpted and specific point of view unique to each filmmaker. Moreover, she highlighted the importance of making work with clear, measurable results that provide easily applicable behaviors that all community members can act upon.

We are so grateful for our guest speakers’ time and enthusiasm for imparting their knowledge to our next generation of filmmakers and can’t wait for more engagements such as these!

We have so much to celebrate, Titans! 💙

The 2026 California School Dashboard results are in, and we are so proud of our Titan community!

Roybal earned BLUE, the highest performance level, in FIVE of the seven state indicators, and GREEN in Science! What makes these results especially meaningful is the tremendous progress our students continue to make. In fact, Roybal outperformed the state in SIX of the seven performance indicators!

These results reflect the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the support of our families. While we know there is still work to do, we also recognize how important it is to celebrate our progress and the collective efforts that make these accomplishments possible.

Proud of our Titans and all that we continue to accomplish together!

The second visit of the our annual College and Career Access programming was to the incredible LMU School of Film and Television @lmusftv .

The LMU admissions team and faculty provided an immersive and greatly informative experience for our seniors by showcasing their editing labs, color labs, current classes, equipment room, production offices, and dynamic sound stages.

Additionally, students had the unique opportunity to converse with Dean Rev. Edward Siebert, S.J., and Director of Industry Relations, Rebecca Sun. They spent time advising students one-on-one and provided some great bits of wisdom on what their four-year journey, and beyond, may like like at LMU.

Special thank you to Event Producer, Timothy O’Neill for facilitating an impeccably smooth and highly enjoyable experience, and to Roybal alum @madeline.moraga and @cameryndstarr for enthusiastically sheparding our students all throughout the film department. We would also like to thank the two tour guides that showed students the entire campus at the start of our day.

We kicked off our annual College and Career Access programming by visiting the legendary UCLA School of Theatre, Film & Television. @ucla_tft

The UCLA admissions team and faculty provided an informative and transformational experience for our future filmmakers, through visits in the post production, crafts, and technical departments - including a conversation with cinematography professor William McDonald. Students were able to ask questions and get insights into the admissions process and the four year student journey in the program.

Special thanks to Celine Parreñas Shimizu @uclatftdean for taking the time to welcome our future filmmakers to the UCLA campus.

Titan Data Spotlight: We are proud of our progress and grateful for our entire Titan community.

85% of Roybal’s Class of 2026 met A-G requirements, 20 percentage points above the district average.

This progress reflects the collective work of our students, teachers, counselors, staff, and families. It represents years of staying focused on expanding opportunities, providing support, and believing in what our students can accomplish.

We know there is still more work ahead. We will continue working to ensure every student has access to the courses, support, and opportunities they need to graduate prepared for what comes next.

Today, we celebrate this milestone and thank our entire Roybal community for making it possible.
