The thickness of being fragile
On view until December at Auditório de Espinho – Academia.
Thread, intertwined, stitched between my skin and the other’s. Connections almost invisible, built from body to body, point by point.
This series explores vulnerability, care and the constant act of rebuilding. The fragile not as weakness, but as something that can bring us closer, create space for the other, and become a form of strength.

Fio, entrançado, bordado entre a minha pele e a do outro. Ligações quase invisíveis, construídas de corpo em corpo, ponto a ponto.
Esta série parte da vulnerabilidade, do cuidado e da permanente reconstrução. Do frágil não como fraqueza, mas como aquilo que nos aproxima, cria espaço para o outro e pode tornar-se força.

This Monday, we are proud to present our Art Monday artist Rita Paupério, @rpauperio 🤍

A visual artist based in Espinho, Portugal, Rita’s practice is rooted in abstract painting and drawing, exploring the space between what we experience and what remains from it. Working intuitively with colour, gesture, layers and transparency, she allows her paintings to unfold through a balance of structure and instinct.

After more than fifteen years working in graphic design, Rita found a different kind of freedom in painting - one that gave her the space to search for her own voice. She speaks openly about learning not to wait for permission, trusting her own rhythm, and embracing a path that hasn’t always been linear.

Summer is over and, even though the days are still warm and heavy, I find myself wanting to retreat to the studio.
The past few weeks have been long, filled with the logistics and organisation of works travelling out into the world. Now the ideas are loose, hovering around, and my hands are eager to make.
More and more, I want to move from idea into matter, asking questions that slowly find their way through processes that take their own time to unfold.
.
O verão acabou e, ainda que o tempo siga quente e abafado, a vontade é de recolher e voltar ao estúdio.
Foram umas semanas longas de logística e gestão dos trabalhos que seguiram por esse mundo fora. Agora, as ideias andam soltas, a pairar, e as mãos ansiosas por fazer.
Cada vez mais quero passar da ideia à matéria, colocando questões que se vão respondendo em processos que demoram o seu tempo a acontecer.
