Former soccer player, England super-fan and Lonely Planet photo editor @rrrhia (and her dad!) recently got to watch their team face off against Croatia in the World Cup in Dallas (the same city where Rhia traveled to tournaments as a kid), with @fifahospitality & @onlocationexp. “This was my first ever World Cup match – I’m genuinely so grateful for the experience, and it was so cool to share it with my dad," Rhia says. One especially magical part: "At the end of the match, the entire stadium serenaded England's Jude Bellingham to 'Hey Jude' by the Beatles." by @rrrhia

Upon reflection. “I’ve been visiting the lush hills of the Rhondda Valley in South Wales since I was born, spending summer afternoons catching frogs in the park with my grandparents and holidays trying to keep up with my younger cousins. This particular photo was taken while on a stroll through the Lluest-wen Reservoir in Maerdy, the small town where my family resides.

The walk near the reservoir is almost meditative — quiet, except for the occasional hello from a fellow walker, runner, or cyclist. Its trail takes you past old mine shafts and rows of massive windmills and, in the summertime, you’ll find kids dipping into surrounding streams. It feels otherworldly to me, yet also calm and familiar.”

"It’s safe to say that canyoneering gained two new fans," says Lonely Planet photographer @rrrhia, who recently spent three exhilarating days climbing colossal cliffs, hiking on trails lined with golden trees and soaking in mineral-rich hot springs. "We bounced off rock walls, floated down drops with nothing to steady ourselves other than the rope and squeezed through tight gaps.
