🚀 Swarming Robotics Hackathon – What an experience!

This past week, we wrapped up our Swarming Robotics Hackathon, and what an incredible journey it has been!

Participants teamed up in groups of 10 to tackle a real swarm robotics challenge: designing and coordinating multi-robot systems using 4 MIRTE robots and a MIRTE master.

🎯The goal?
Work together like a true swarm to scan as many baskets as possible across a dynamic field filled with obstacles, while picking and placing objects of their corresponding basket. Each team brought a unique strategy to the table, exploring concepts like distributed intelligence, adaptability, and autonomous coordination.

Beyond the technical achievements, it was amazing to see collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving in action. And yes, we had a lot of fun along the way!

👏 Congratulations to all participating teams for their hard work and innovation! And special shoutout to our winners:
🥇 D97B27
🥈 The Dutch Team

Finally, a big thank you to all organizers and sponsors who made this event possible:
RoboHouse, Delft Robotics Student Association (RSA), Even Groene Vrienden, Beethoven Zuid-Holland, Asimov, TU Delft Science Centre Swarming Lab, and Lunar Zebro.

Looking forward to the next edition! 🤖✨

“Nobody cares about your humanoid project.”

RSA did. And that gave us even more reason to keep building.

At Project Echo, we’re building an open-source humanoid to explore one question: what is he added value that humanoid robots could bring to search and rescue operations in damaged and partially collapsed buildings?

Our goal is to test its value in the RoboCup Rescue Competition There’s a lot of work between our current prototype and that goal. We’re sharing that part too.

Behind every short clip is a team working through problems that don’t fit into a reel. Sometimes the progress is a working mechanism. Sometimes it’s finally understanding why it failed.

A huge thank you to RSA for supporting Project Echo while we’re still building towards that vision. Having people believe in the project at this stage means a lot.

For now, you get a meme. Follow along to see the robot we build behind it.

New to RSA and don't know what to do as a beginner?

This year we are back with RoboArm.

We will choose a small group of motivated RSA members, quickly teach them the fundamentals of robotics, and engineer a robot arm that willl compete in the RoboArm finale competition.
RoboArm focuses on teaching and applying the fundamentals of applied robotics so you can build your own projects from scratch.

You don't have to be experienced in robotics to apply

Interested? Make sure to sign-up, link in bio by @rsadelft
