Every graduating 5th grade class gets a custom “Cav Kid” shirt to remember their year. Traditionally they’ve always been red, white, or black. But this year, was different ! To celebrate the incredible run by the Knicks and the excitement they brought to New York, we went with orange and blue. A small tribute to a team that gave us a season to remember.

This photo of my dad was taken in 1977. At the time, Joe was about five, I was three, and Paddy Boy and the Beans hadn’t even been born yet.

As I look at this picture on Father’s Day, I think about the life my dad and mom were building together. They taught us that family comes first, that hard work matters, that your word means everything , and that you show up for the people you love.

My dad wouldn’t live long enough to see all that would come from the foundation he helped build, but the values he and my mother instilled in us continue to guide our family every day. Those lessons have been passed down to our children and have shaped the way we live our lives, raise our families, and treat others.

Today, we see my dad’s influence all around us, and we see my mother’s strength carrying forward the values they worked so hard to instill in us. Their lessons remain woven into the fabric of our family.

Their greatest accomplishment wasn’t what they had—it was who they raised and the values they left behind.

On this Father’s Day, we are grateful for our dad’s example, our mother’s strength, and the enduring impact they continue to have on all of us.

Dad is watching over us, proud of the family he helped create and the legacy that continues to grow with each passing year.

Saying goodbye to the game as an athlete was hard, but nothing compares to watching your child say goodbye to the place that helped shape him. I could have spent the rest of my life on the sidelines at Smithtown, watching you wear that jersey one more time, play one more game, and battle beside the teammates who became brothers.

Thank you, Jack, for the heart you gave to Smithtown, for the respect you showed your coaches and teammates, and for competing every single day with passion and pride. The wins and losses will fade with time, but the way you carried yourself never will.

More than the athlete you became, I’m proud of the young man you are. And while this chapter closes, the memories made on the fields and courts will stay with us forever. by @rshamrock21

So Jack tried out for the Suffolk County All Star Senior Soccer Game this week and the results were posted on-line this morning. I was keeping my students updated and they wantes me
To check if he made it. (I was already informed by a few parents earlier in the day that he had made it) So I thought it would be fun to see their reaction, well it was so wholesome and pure that I felt like I should. This is what true genuine happiness looks like even though they don’t even know Jack🥲❤️ Kids are beautiful ! by @rshamrock21

Yesterday at practice, we traded in the soccer balls for photographs. Each player and coach brought in a picture of someone or something that represented “Their Why”—the reason they wake up and battle to be their very best, both in the classroom and on the field.

What followed was one of the most moving moments of the season. The girls opened up, cried, and supported one another. They saw their teammates in a new light. They hugged, cheered, clapped, and offered encouraging words when a teammate was struggling to get through her story. By the end, each photo was placed on a poster, a symbol of the bond they now share.

This morning, when we returned to the field, we didn’t break into groups. We stayed together as one team. And it showed—it was our strongest, most spirited session of the season.

We may not win the league title, but it won’t be because we quit on each other. After yesterday, we know these girls will fight to the end—not just for themselves, but for their sisters.

We had first seen this activity done by another team on instagram and we never could have imagined how powerful and impactful it would be until we experienced it with our own players. We would encourage every coach to try this with their team—it brings out a level of connection that can’t be done with skills and drills. by @rshamrock21

Tonight was our Tennis County Awards Night ! The boys celebrarted the schools first ever undefeated Division championship, 2 All State Players, 8 All County Players, and 3 All Division players. An unprecedented season that will live forever in Cquot History! by @rshamrock21
