For this episode of *They Have The Computers*, an anonymous guest joins us to explore the creative possibilities of electronic waste — from dumpster diving and salvaging unwanted technology to transforming e-waste into musical instruments. 🎛️🔌

The conversation looks at the artistic potential hidden inside discarded electronics, the process of repurposing materials, and whether turning e-waste into instruments could become a more widespread creative practice.

🖤 We close the Hot Snakes Night Club with Transmead - an evening of experimental electronic music and leftfield with live performances from Gusty Ferro, R3YWYA, and Kicho. The event is free, with a paid bar, and will be recorded for broadcast.

👉 Transmead is an experimental electronic music platform curated and produced by Gusty Ferro and shared as a radio show resident on rtm.fm that broadcasts sonic collaborations featuring noise, left-field tracks, and field recordings.

🖤 Gusty Ferro is a Brazil-born, London-based cross-disciplinary artist. Their creative practice sits between visual arts and experimental music, developing site-responsive installations that often incorporate elements of sound, sculpture, drawing and moving image. Their sonic practice embraces improvisation with modular synthesisers, sampling field recordings and using contact mics, creating noise-scapes and temporal distortions.

💎 Kicho (DE) is a London-based music maker working across experimental sound design, ambient textures, and electronic music. In recent years, he has been active with the sound art collective Subphonics and as an event organizer for Pest Control.

🍄 R3YWYA is the noise project of Riga‑based artist Evija Ābrama. Working through improvisation, her practice centers on second‑hand cassette tapes found in thrift shops: objects marked by abandonment, carrying traces of forgotten personal histories, reuseing them as raw material, recycling sound.

🖤Hot Snakes Night Club presents Intimacy Live - an evening of live experimental music performance with Isabelle Pead, Harry Smithson, Eleanor Arnold, DJ Euro Kurd.

👉 Intimacy is an ongoing broadcast and curatorial project by artist Elliot Buchanan that airs regularly on rtm.fm. It is conceived as a common ground for artists working with sound to critically engage with radio as a platform for community building, collective listening and support across a broad range of sound-centred practices.

👉 The Hotsnakes Night Club, is an immersive installation and performance space by artist Chloe Langlois. Co-curated by TACO! and Dinosaur Kilby, the club hosts a diverse programme of cabaret, live artist performance, workshops, and experimental music from invited artists and guests.

🌒 In advance of the Hot Snakes Night Club - artist Qingqing Liu (@weeeekdu ) imagines the sounds of a world that continues after the eyes close. Using recordings from her grandfather’s funeral and family ritual practices, we move through hospital corridors, streets, engines, funeral rituals and fragments of conversation. The voices drift between memory, belief, science and the soul, never settling into certainty.

In the end, the forest finds a listener.

🐍Hot Snakes! is a devotional performance project conceived by artist Chloe Langlois (@clolanglois). It takes as its starting point the artists attempt to interact and communicate with a Holy Guardian Angel from her childhood - the eponymous ‘Hotsnakes’. Chole’s attempts take the form of monthly broadcasts, live to air performance events, and bar takeovers.

TRANSMEAD episode 5 starts off with the existential disco, sewer pop music made by Man Made Hill - I saw his performance at Cafe Oto last year and since then it is forever living in my memory. Followed by music I discovered online recently, including Musuama, a Brazilian artist releasing his second EP with the label @infinite.machine and a bunch of legendary Latvian artists from Riga, which with some of them I had the opportunity to play with during a recent art residency I made at @domgalerija -in this context ‘Within’ is a jam session between me and Waterfllower that took place in the gallery during my exhibition of the same name last month. Finishing off with Adam Shield’s ‘Flood Drill’ a 15-minute performance of a narrative and side B track from his nearly released debut EP ‘Make More Visible’.

TRANSMEAD is supported and distributed by @rtm.fm and @tracey_aint_coming_out in London. RTM.FM provides a platform for artists, musicians, and producers to broadcast and perform. The station presents a range of content including live to air events, experimental radio and sound, music and critical discussion.
