I am enormously proud to share my new speaker reel!

I come from a culture where women don't share their wins and it's considered immodest to celebrate out loud. I navigated a HUGE amount of self-doubt and discomfort as we put this together, but the end result is so humbling...and I hope, inspiring for others who were taught to be small, like I was.

More thanks than words can express to all who have supported me and made this possible—from my family to childcare providers to coaches to clients to friends!

And a HUGE thanks to my incredible Chief of Staff, Vanessa Arias (@vanessa_s_arias), who skillfully stitched this all together.

Woke up to the news that #Uncompete is among the 100 top-selling books in America this week!

Thank you to all who helped us get here—especially YOU for buying this book. 🙏🏽💕

Most special of all was sharing this celebration with my mum and my son, who have a beautiful ritual of drinking chai together every morning. They were delighted! 😭❤️ by @rtulshyan

Bucket list item, unlocked! ✅

I spoke on my first TEDx stage, and it was magical! Thank you to the amazing @tedxissaquah team and the wonderful cohort. Can’t wait to share the talk soon.

But yesterday reinforced a very important lesson—everyone wants a village, but not everybody wants to be villagers. I was overwhelmed by support from my husband and son, amazing friends who showed up in person: @lakitamwilliams (and family!), @ameliaransom, @tanmeetsethimd, @lydiaintheloop, Mahtab M…thank you for spending a Saturday afternoon with us! Thank you @amyegallo for the beautiful flowers and the loved ones who sent me notes of encouragement, great advice (@capriced.hollins called me and reminded me that the story is written in my bones 😭) and so much love. I am because we are. 🙏🏽❤️

I know it’s officially still summer but with back-to-school and Seattle rain and the fact that birds have begun mass migrations south, it’s autumn (fall) for me.

I had a summer to remember, replete with rest and time away, which made me reflect on how my definition of ambition has changed—for the better, I think, and I’ll never not be glad I have the privilege to make this choice.

Hope to take this intention into the fall and the year ahead. by @rtulshyan

10 years ago, @armoire.style came into existence, led by fearless boss lady @ambikasi. It’s no understatement to say being a customer of this business has changed my life—and continues to.

When Stefanie O'Connell (@stefanieoconnell) asked to interview me about "Raise Shaming," I was ready to talk about the research I'd read and the hundreds of women I've talked to about negotiating raises....

But what tumbled out unexpectedly during the interview were two personal stories that I've long tucked away:

1. Earlier in my career, the boss who said: Yes, you deserve a higher salary but we don't want men on the team to feel bad, so don't ask for it.

2. Later in my career, the boss who said: Because your husband is in the technology industry (which is high paying), you don’t need a raise.

In both cases, I was flabbergasted and didn't know how to push back. I thought it was a personal failing–because I was raised with the belief that if you're good enough, you'll get the $$$. And I internalized it as: you're just not that good. Fortunately, I now know better.
