Every second counts. Getting the most out of our prep on recovery days by accumulating plyometric contacts, building aerobic capacity, and challenging ourselves coordinatively. by @rubicon_perform

Starting the offseason from a more variable, more randomized array of initial task constraints is always the move because it gives you somewhere to go.

There are inherently more ways to throw 65 than to throw 100. Because intensity will always be the largest driver of specificity, the goal should be to drive as much dexterity at the intensity bandwidth we’re at on our offseason progression.

Just because the throwing isn’t as intense, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be challenging. by @rubicon_perform

The reason why the majority of weight room training has gotten so convoluted is because most athletes skill and general plyometric/ballistic work is so poorly programmed and progressed.

Use your coordinative training where it matters, use the weight room to build architecture. No one’s paying you to get good at lifting weights. by @rubicon_perform

The kinematics of the throw are simply shadows on the cave wall, second order derivatives of the organization of movement solutions that actually move the needle.

Traditional biomechanical points of interest look at isolated snapshots like pelvis angle at foot plant, whereas nonlinear measures such as sample and spectral entropy describe the shape and organization of the whole movement over time.

Sample entropy tells us how predictable or repeatable the movement pattern is over time, and spectral entropy tells us how spread out or complex the energy is across different frequencies.

All that matters is that the movement solution space converges on stable patterns for task success. More than meets the eye. by @rubicon_perform

The ability to make adjustments unconsciously in real time is called skill.

Therefore, forcing yourself to constantly adjust and adapt in training is prioritizing the development of skill. by @rubicon_perform

The most important thing an athlete can have to help them view their career in the macro are high density longitudinal checkpoints that help show them where they’ve been, where they are, and where they’re going. This means rigorous standardization of protocol, scaled over many trials over several years.

The biggest mistake is always viewing an assessment as only what guides your next block of training, rather than a thread in the tapestry of your development that you can look back on to guide you forward.

Big thanks to @drjacobgoodin and the team @plnu_sportscience over @plnu_sportscience for having me, world class setup. by @rubicon_perform

Early in the offseason, there should be relatively little difference between high days and low days in intensity and task specificity. Volume accumulation is the goal.

This starting point gives the most room to stratify the highs and lows so the highs are the highest when we need them most down the line.

Regardless of the day, the work always needs to be challenging. by @rubicon_perform
