In May, I received my first Great Britain call-up after winning the Senior National Championships in my first year as a senior.

Fast forward just four months, and I’ve competed in the two biggest competitions of the year — the Commonwealth Games and the Elite European Championships. 🌍

At just 19 years old, I’ve stepped into the ring against some of the best senior women in the world and proved, fight after fight, that I belong here.

At the European Championships, I faced the Turkish champion — the eventual winner of the competition and a 2024 Paris Olympic silver medallist at 54kg. After three hard rounds, the fight went to a 3–2 split decision. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Of course, it hurts.

Me and my team genuinely believed I had done enough to get the win. I was up on the cards going into the final round and finished the fight strongly. To train as hard as I do and then have everything come down to a split decision is heartbreaking.

I knew the jump from youth to senior level was going to be a huge challenge, but I was ready for it. My coaches knew I was capable too, which is why I was thrown straight into the deep end and given the opportunity to test myself against some of the best.

These losses don’t define me — they teach me. They’re lessons, experiences and stepping stones towards where I want to be.

Looking back at the Commonwealth Games final and comparing where I was then to where I am now, the improvement is honestly crazy. I’ve grown so much in such a short space of time, and I know there’s still so much more to come.

It’s been difficult to get my head around the fact that one point was the difference between me being here right now and standing on top of that European podium as a 5x champion. But that’s boxing. Sometimes you don’t get the result you believe you deser taken in Sofia, Bulgaria by @ruby.white1

Meet Ruby "The Pocket Rocket" White

"The Pocket Rocket" could also be called the Bazooka the way she drops bombs on her opponents. At just 5'1" ad 112 pounds she possesses rare knockout power for a flyweight. BoxRec lists her at 58-1 with 23 KO's although she mentioned she had 80 fights. Ruby is currently ranked as the number 5 flyweight in the world and number 1 in the UK.

Ruby is also a 7x national champion, 28x international gold medalist, and a member of Team Great Britian. She trains at Trowbridge ABC.

I can see her signing with Matchroom or MVP right after making an Olympic run in 2028.
